Peter: Yes that's correct.
David Lawrence: Yeah so you are not going to run on a cash basis as you could with using if you are using QuickBooks. So the double entry accounting package that rocks on the Macintosh is called MYOB and that's what you should be using. If you are saying oh well they are going to give me files that are only runnable in QuickBooks and you know they are going to show me how to set things up in QuickBooks and all that, well then I wouldn't try and force that into the Mac environment. But MYOB you will get your work done a lot faster than people using QuickBooks though.
Peter: You know people are sending me stuff by QuickBooks you know their spreadsheets, their cost sheets dah-dah-dah.
David Lawrence: Well that's not you can't take those into QuickBooks. You can take those into XL if they are sending you spreadsheets. So if what you are saying is they are exporting stuff into XLS or some sort of a common format for you to bring into QuickBooks again I don't think I would try and force QuickBooks into the Mac environment. And it*s sad because they used to make a Macintosh version of QuickBooks. Oddly enough they were not binary compatible with the PC version of QuickBooks.
Peter: Alright.
David Lawrence: They had a dual development track and the files were not compatible. You couldn*t like you can with Word. You know you take a Word document on a Macintosh and open it up on a PC and vice versa. You couldn*t do that with QuickBooks so that pretty much sucks. So there is your choice. 180039 Online is our telephone number 1800-396-6546, 22 before the hour let*s go to John. John you are online tonight with David Lawrence hello. Hello John? After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
