Terry: And I figured well that will take a long time I will do it tomorrow whatever. And well and behold I got 9.0 in the mail today put it in my computer but I wasn*t connected to AOL. Was that my mistake?
David Lawrence: Well I didn*t hear any problem, what happened?
Terry: It erased 0.50 and it erased itself. I can't get on AOL at all.
David Lawrence: Okay so I am not quite sure if you actually installed the program completely. Usually when you can't find the old versions and you can't find the new version somebody panicked and stopped everything in the middle. Make sure that you don*t do this. Next, next, next, next I got to get online next, next, next. Yes I agree yes, yes, yes. Was that kind of what happened?
Terry: No.
David Lawrence: Okay because that*s usually the problem as people start agreeing to things they ---
Terry: Should I go get another 9.0 and retry but.
David Lawrence: You have the disk, right?
Terry: I just.
David Lawrence: Hold on Terry, Terry just calm down for a second. You have the disk, right?
Terry: The new one yeah.
David Lawrence: Yeah so you are fine. That disk will never get harmed. It will never erase itself. There will never be any sun fade on it. You can always use it again to install all over again. What I would do is I would go through my programs directory on my computer and look for the America Online folder and see if that*s in there. If it is in there you will find a little program in there called uninstaller. The problem is AOL is already notorious for not uninstalling things properly unless you are using a newer installer. So you may have a not only corrupt install but an impossible to uninstall install. So you may need the help of some one in the computer store or some guru that*s a friend of yours just come over and truly remove everything possible. Now if you want to go back to 5.0 there is a great website called www.oldversion.com and www.oldversion.com has all the old versions available going back to 2.0. So if you have an old PC and you just want to do you know E-mail on it via AOL.
Terry: Well that*s why I got the 5.0 because all I was doing was E-mailing and when they said I had, actually I had 4.0 and they said you must increase.
David Lawrence: Yes 5.0 is -----
Terry: The 5.0.
David Lawrence: Yeah 5.0 is the minimum these days for a modern machine. You don*t want to be below 5.0 because it's so much that you will miss.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
