Max of course is not only a family technology expert but he also worked for NeXT and for Apple and so he knows all about FreeBSD and NeXT OS and NeXTSTEP and what became Mac OS X. So for those of you that are Machintosh fanatics and you have specific questions about how Mac OS works certainly you can call in and talk to me. But we have got Max here who will tell you exactly what*s going on. So how do you get in? 180039 online 18003966546 that*s the toll free telephone number that gets you right to me on the air 180039 online. You can also send me E-mail. David Lawrence: Alright the Geek Speak phrase for this hour is Backup, Backup and it is brought to you by our friends over at Mac OS X Unwired the book by Tom Negrino and Dori Smith a complete guide to wireless information for Mac users. If you are thinking of going wireless as a connection to the Internet this book will show you what Mac OS X is capable of doing www.macosxunwired.com. We are also brought to you by the amazing Safety Laser Flare. The Rescue Laser Flare is visible up to 20 miles away at night, 3 miles during the day. It*s even visible underwater, hike, dive, sail, drive with the safety device that can be used in every weather condition. Especially if you are heading down on a holiday weekend to enjoy the outdoors go to www.safetylaser.com. Now Backup well we talk about backup on this show all the time when people have problems with their computers. One of the first questions I ask is do you have a backup? And sometimes people say yes because they have copied their you know what they think are the most important files off onto a CD or have a D drive and E drive in their machine, a second drive that they sort of put things on to. But really backing up your data to engineer a complete and total backup so that when disaster strikes you can restore your data back onto a new hard drive, back on to a brand new machine whatever it takes. Backup itself is a form that you can horn to an art that you can create as a science, that you can make sure you are protected. Don*t think that by copying that big report that*s due next week you have backed up your computer. And please don*t fall prey to those who will tell you that all you need to do is backup your documents. I believe and I espouse in 10 Quick Steps to Perfect Backups that you should do a complete backup of your hard drive. And then do daily snapshots or more than just one a day, daily snapshots of the data as it changes.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
