David Lawrence: Well Add/Remove Program*s actually under your Control Panels.

Dean: Right.

David Lawrence: So but there is two ways to do and there actually there is three ways to do uninstalls the third of which is not correct but most people do it. Either Add/Remove Programs which works most of the time.

Dean: And that doesn*t seem to be working for me right now.

David Lawrence: Right, uninstallers which work most of the time.

Dean: Okay.

David Lawrence: And just simply taking the directory in the program files directory and thrashing it which never works. So here*s the problem. Uninstallers are not perfect and what you need to do is be very clear on going to the website of the company that makes the software that you are trying to get rid of. Now when you say it*s still on your hard drive, are you seeing an installer on your hard drive or are you seeing the actual application?

Dean: I am seeing actual application in the directories and everything from the install.

David Lawrence: So then the uninstaller didn*t work.

Dean: And I have had one company tell me that well it*s something with Windows or your system because their uninstaller works.

David Lawrence: And it very well maybe. You may have a permissions issue. What version of the software are you running operating system?

Dean: I am running Window 98. I originally thought I was running second edition and as you were talking earlier I see it is really only the original.

David Lawrence: Okay. Well that maybe why, if the company knew that there is a very good chance that their uninstaller will only work with second edition.

Dean: Can you still upgrade to second edition?

David Lawrence: Sure absolutely you can find second edition upgrades at Wal-Mart. You can find them on eBay. You can find them second hand at user groups. Sure you can find them around.

Dean: But user groups and things like that, that would be really kind of an illegal form of*

David Lawrence: Not if they are selling you the original disk.

Dean: Okay.
