Now what is a Storage Area Network? A storage area network is a device that multiple machines that are hooked up together as a network share as disk space and this is being going on for quite a while but they are just coming into their own storage area networks just coming into their own. Especially in very large installations, like we just had the caller who has a business and maybe they have you know 10 or 12 machines. Instead of each machine relying solely on the hard drives that are inside those machines, you have servers that don*t just serve up the way normal servers do where their services including printing and so on but they actually attach so that you can save things in the office when you are at home using a VPN, Storage Area Networks are great. Data traffic is just like those on internal disk drives and the speed is close to the internal drives as well. So it is very good in terms of the enterprise to use Storage Area Networks, it*s expensive but it is the best possible approach you can take backing up Storage Area Networks to larger devices is also something you should do and you can access them over the net so SAN or Storage Area Network is for the enterprise that*s what you want to do and that is this hour*s Geek Speak.
