David Lawrence: I appreciate the call, 1800-39 online is our telephone number18003966546 is it Hepp.

Hepp: Yeah, Hepp, your name is David?

David Lawrence: How are you how can I help you sir?

Hepp: David, I have some copy-writing material that I have produced and I would like to put on to CD and to sell. How can I best protect that material from being randomly ripped off right and about, like it won*t be, if I just put it on mp3 files.

David Lawrence: Is this audio material or is this, data in other formats?

Hepp: Audio.

David Lawrence: Audio, okay.

Hepp: Not the spoken word.

David Lawrence: Here is what I would do. There is a little chance that if someone is determined to get that data through whatever scheme you use for copy protection. There is little chance that you can stop them. Once the CD is in their hand, they can use any number of hacking tools available to convert back to Wave file to convert back to AIF file, they are on Macintosh. My admonition to you is just to simply mark all of your stuff with copyright notices and then watch the Internet for them to appear and then use take-down notices under the DMCA. I mean, I wouldn*t spend a lot of time trying to make it difficult for your paying customers to use your stuff in the hopes that you will 100% via technology prevent people from breaking copy protection and using it.

Hepp: I am realistic enough to know, that, that*s not going to happen. It*s not the full proof, I just want to try and know, try to, well along with, with, putting in reasonably low price on this thing so, to try and eliminate as much as I can.
