Austin: Yeah, that*s correct, I am in Sausalito and I am still to find your program a new XM listener so I missed you from CNET, anyway, anyway
David Lawrence: You can actually, if you are in Sausalito you can also pick us up on KNEW out at San Francisco. The very same station that we used to be on when CNET radio was on 24 hours a day, we are the only show they kept on the air so.
Austin: Right and well it*s a good thing.
David Lawrence: There you go, how can I help you?
Austin: Now I have a little challenge for you. I have a palm enabled phone, my large multinational corporation I worked for has Blackberry Enterprise Server. I do not want to go out and buy new 500-600 dollar Blackberry device, but I do want to be able to get my E-Mail on a palm enabled Samsung I-500 type device. Is there some way to deal Blackberry emulation, in a palm environment to get access to your mail?
David Lawrence: Well the Enterprise Server will work with both Exchange and Lotus and in that case you can use any one of the number of IMAP, enabled or IMAP based or Pop based if Lotus or MSN, if the Exchange Server or the Lotus Server is unable to do so but usually the IMAP is what you want to do. I wouldn*t be surprised if the mail client, that*s already on your palm device is able to do IMAP retrieval and if that*s the case, then all you have to do is have your IT guys setup the Blackberry Enterprise services to enable IMAP E-mail retrieval and you are done.
Austin: Well, alright, well that*s easy enough, whether it is IMAP capable client, sounds like I just need my Pop and that*s on CPU, right?
David Lawrence: Well Pop is not, Pop is the other way to get, you, know.
Austin: Oh that*s right, though I have plan to teach them what---
David Lawrence: What you need to do is, you need to get the IMAP Server and usually it*s the same. It*s just the different way of looking at the same corpus of E-Mail. So just talk with your IT guys and say look, I want to get it on my palm device as well, can you enable it for me, alright.
Austin: There it is thanks.
David Lawrence: I appreciate the call. 1800-39 online back in the moment.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
