Mike: Well here*s what*s going on, on my computer every, I go on the Internet and it could happen every 10 seconds or sometimes every 10 minutes, these a gray windows are popping up saying messenger service, your system is about to crash, critical error *
David Lawrence: Right let me stop you and I will tell you exactly what they are.
Mike: Okay.
David Lawrence: Those are Windows Messenger pop-up ads being triggered by pop-up ad spammers.
Mike: Okay.
David Lawrence: You need to turn off Windows Messenger service. You also need to check your machine for other forms of Spyware and Adware. What you are saying is very common and they probably want you to click on link to buy something.
Mike: Exactly I actually tried it.
David Lawrence: Yeah don't do that. Do not do that just simply close them until you can get messenger service turned off. Windows Messenger service, it*s a system level service that lets you say you are on a corporate LAN, a corporate local area network would allow the corporate administrators to send everybody a message. Unfortunately, it*s based on IP address, so once a spammer has your IP address they can send you a Windows Messenger pop-up from anywhere. And in fact they could drop a script onto your site, onto your machine that will do it for them automatically. So if you send me piece of E-mail david@onlinetonight.com I will pop you back a reply that shows you how to turn off Windows Messenger no matter what version of Windows you have got. So david@onlinetonight.com if you choose to you can also pick our 10 Quick Steps to Stopping PopUp Ads that will show you exactly how to turn off these as well, it*s 10 Quick Steps to Stopping PopUp Ads. We will show you how to turn off everything and to prevent pop-up ads from getting on your machine as well, showing you best practices that's over at www.10quicksteps.com but if you just want a quick, a quick E-mail on how to turn off Windows Messenger just send E-mail and I will pop that back to you, okay
Mike: Okay let me write down that, the address again, what was it?
David Lawrence: david@onlinetonight.com and then also www.10quicksteps.com will take you to our website where you can lookup 10 Quick Steps to Stopping PopUp Ads so there you go. Cliff you are Online Tonight with David Lawrence hello.
Cliff: Yeah I have Outlook Express and I am using and I have 2 machines they are both networked. One is 1200 Athlon and the other one is 64-Bitter. The 1200 every time I try to get the E-mail it comes up and it acts like it you know it*s getting the E-mail but nothing, I don't get anything with 1200. The 64 bitter works great, I can E-mail and everything.
David Lawrence: And are you checking with the 64 bit machine first?
Cliff: No.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
