David Lawrence: 180039 Online is our telephone number, 18003966546. I got something that just is bugging me and I had to talk about it. And we are getting to back to the calls in just a second. But this business between Google and CNET, now what is happened here is that there is concern not only with CNET but also with many other people who work in technology that with Google you can find out so much stuff that it becomes a privacy issue for people. You can find out so much stuff about individuals using Google that they are so prolific and everywhere so invasive into the Internet which makes them a great search engine. It also makes them potentially a violator of someone*s right to privacy. And it is been brought up to them over and over again that their corporate motto just like IBM*s corporate motto was to think. And Ford*s corporate motto was quality is job 1 and you know what I am saying. Google*s corporate motto is don*t be evil. I have had a problem with that for a long time because I believe that promoting copyright infringement with peer-to-peer networks is evil. And they have no problem showing you where to find the very best in file piracy sites. But they also have been lately, Google has been lately showing signs of amazing arrogance, just amazing arrogance. Let me give you an example. Google is looking for a chef, okay now working at Google is just a brilliant thing to do because if you want a meal, it is free and it is not just a burger and fries. I mean amazing meals put together and this is great if you can do this with your company and you can have a place where the workers can go and get the best in food, that is terrific. So they are looking for a chef, right. They had a chef, he was the Grateful Dead chef for a long time. He is leaving or something is going on. They are looking for two chefs to replace him. So CNET wanted to do a story on that. CNET is a huge outlet. It is a huge news outlet. And in the interest of full disclosure, I used to the show used to be heard as the nighttime show on CNET radio and I have a lot of a friends that work at CNET. I have a lot of friends that work at Google as well. So this is painful to me. Here is what happened. CNET went and said to Google hey you are doing this thing with the chef, we want to get some more information on it. And they were met with this response from Google*s PR Department. You have been banned from Google. We will not talk to you until July of 2006 because of a story written by Elinor Mills about how Google does not have a good sense of people*s privacy. What Elinor Mills did was she used Google to find out information about Eric Schmidt who is Google*s CEO. Using their own system she found out his political persuasion, who he gave money to, who he threw parties for in last election, where his money goes, how much money he made, a lot of things that a lot of people might not want the general public to know. Now it*s a public company so a lot of these things are public information anyway. But the fact is some of them are not and Google got then out of shape about that. So when CNET came back to do this story on the shelves Google said we are not working with you. Now understand the impact of this. In the world of technology that*s like the White House Press Secretary saying to NBC you are not allowed in the pressroom for a year. We are not going to talk to you about what the government is doing for a year, this is insane. Google needs to step back, apologize and be more forthright and not so arrogant. We will talk more about this in a moment.
