David Lawrence: Okay so often times when we install pieces of hardware on our machines if we let the operating system do things for us usually it keeps us nice and safe. If it will say okay the CD ROM drive is taking up this particular slot on the machine so let*s find another slot and I am not talking about a physical slot I am talking about sort of the software controlling the data flow between your computer and the device. There are number of different channels called interrupts that it can take advantage of and sometimes when these get assigned to the same interrupt request there is a conflict and so what I would do is I would go into my device manager and I would check to see if there are any question marks, any exclamation points which would indicate that you might need to reassign the interrupt requests and separate the two from one another. Also you might want to check to see if there are any jumpers that are mis-set on the CD ROM drive or the DVD drive. Did you install these yourself or were they installed at the store?
John: Yeah it*s all custom build.
David Lawrence: So this question and this phone call should have gone to the person that built your machine.
John: That was me.
David Lawrence: Okay see this is why building your own machine is so much fun until there is a problem then you become your own tech support. There is nobody else you can fall back to and knowing what an interrupt request is, is really important knowing that the basics of the device manager you got to learn if you are going to build your own machine. So go online and just Google device manager Windows or Windows device manager, read up on it and you will be able to pick apart all the problems that are going on with your drive unless the drive is failing. In that case you might have to replace it but that*s usually the situation is if there is an IRQ conflict. 180039 online that*s our telephone number 18003966546. Mitch you are Online Tonight with David Lawrence, hello.
Mitch: Hi how are you?
David Lawrence: Fine how can I help you?
Mitch: I had Windows XP and I had SPC as my computer Internet service, switched over to Comcast. And I am not going ________21:31 Comcast to work and the message just says has RPC server is unavailable.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
