David Lawrence: Alright Geek Speak is where we take a technology term and turn it into plain English before your very years. I actually followed Brian Cooley today. I was on a radio show in San Francisco inside Mac radio and Brian was on the hour before me and then I was on I know and Brian was right here in the studio with me the whole time. 21 past the hour my name is David Lawrence here is your Geek Speak brought to you by the Fantasy Music League. Now if you like Fantasy Sports and you love music, well Fantasy Music League is going to be for you. You go the fantasy music league instead of drafting a team you create a record label and set up drafting a quarter back or a picture or a center you are drafting pop artist and a rock artist and an urban artist and a country artist and you get ten of them in a row and you see how they do on the churches each week. That*s the game and you could win your share of $25,000 dollars in cash and prizes that*s at the www.fantasymusicleague.com. Alright encryption that is this hours* Geek Speak you see this all over the place. Oh you got to make sure that that*s encrypted properly. Well they won't get it because your data is encrypted. What is encryption all about? So encryption is the process of scrambling information so that somebody coming along and looking at what was the result of that scrambling wouldn*t know what the original looked like and further making sure that you can decrypt or unscramble that information later on down the pike with minimal information. So encryption is the hiding of information by scrambling it up, decryption is the revealing of the information by unscrambling it and the technology is that take advantage of encryption or wide area protocol WiFi signals hopefully if you have it turned on. The connection to a financial institution via a website you know via your browser if you see that little lock click closed on your browser then your stuff is encrypted using something called SSL or when you see the https:// and a URL that*s when things are encrypted and hopefully a lot safer than if they were sent in the clear. Now its you got to understand that sometimes stuff is not encrypted like when you sign on to America Online on a terminal and an internet caf* that*s not encrypted. It*s not it*s sent in the clear and you got to be careful about that especially if it*s over a broadband connection. So encryption that is this hours* Geek Speak and it is brought to you by www.rackspace.com. Rack Space Managed Hosting right now you can get free enterprise class managed backup with selected managed hosting packages. It*s all at Rack Space Managed Hosting, call them at 18009612888 or visit them at www.rackspace.com.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
