The company has been emailing its customers in those 9 states so they can switch to high speed broadband service offered by BellSouth for special promotional rate. And the cool thing is, is that most of the time the E-mail clients that the new broadband provider will give you will also have not only POP capability but IMAP, which are two ways of getting your E-mail off of servers. And AOL now lets you do that so if you have that AOL screen name like I have for years, and years and years and you don’t want to get rid of it you can still do it, you can still get your E-mail from AOL via IMAP on the E-mail client that you have Outlook, or in the case of Macintosh, Entourage is IMAP capable.
So you know you don’t have to lose your account you can still have broadband and you can just keep your AOL bring your own access account with AOL. You can still have the best of all worlds but they are getting out of this service providing broadband to users. It’s just not profitable for them and they can’t figure out how to do it and make money at the same time. So AOL definitely a company that’s having some difficulties these days. 23 million subscribers they are at right now and that’s down from 35 at their peak. Let’s go back to the phones. Mike you are online tonight with David Lawrence hello.
Mike: Hey David, how are you doing?
David Lawrence: I am fine thank you for asking I have just, just moments before I went back on the air, I checked and everything’s where it should be. So how can I help you sir?
Bob: Okay I have a Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router.
David Lawrence: Okay that would be the 802.11g meaning you have you know anywhere between 5 and 7 megabytes or 25-30 megabytes per second passed through. It’s 50 but you only get half, you are only allowed half, so go ahead.
Bob: Yeah, but mostly I just have that for my Xbox but my question is I wonder main selling point, what are my main selling points for buying the router was the fact that I had DDNS build into the firmware because I use a dynamic DNS host service to run my own FTP.
David Lawrence: Well that’s pretty much built into any Linksys router. So it’s not just that one, so what’s your issue?
Bob: Okay well I just recently bought a WebRamp Networks Firewall, the hardware Firewall.
David Lawrence: And you are asking if it’s compatible with Linksys.
Bob: Well I am asking if the DDNS will still update my host account automatically through firewall.
David Lawrence: It should, it should. I mean what you are saying is you are running your own DNS services, yes.
Bob: Essentially I am going to DynDNS.org.
David Lawrence: Right. The DNS services are operated externally to your network and so there shouldn’t be an issue. Having both on the other hand, having both the, you have other issues that you may need to deal with between the Linksys system and WebRamp. So I will be prepared for some tweaking and some tuning and some, I am not available right now but I will get right back to you in kind of moments. You are asking a consumer piece of hardware to work with an industrial piece of hardware and you will run into some problems there. Back in a moment.
Bob: Thank you.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
