David Lawrence: Mary.
Mary: Yes hi.
David Lawrence: How can I help you?
Mary: I have a wireless network at my office and I have a desktop that is connected to the wireless network by an Internet bridge.
David Lawrence: By a what?
Mary: A wireless bridge.
David Lawrence: Okay the wireless bridge would connect to networks not the computer. You probably have a card inside the LAN antenna that connects you, not with the wireless bridge.
Mary: Exactly. My son calls it that I am not a computer --
David Lawrence: I understand, just be clear.
Mary: Thank you for straightening out on that. I also have a new laptop. I got it about 6 months ago and my desktop runs 98, its connection is fine. My laptop runs XP and pardon.
David Lawrence: Pro or Home?
Mary: Home.
David Lawrence: Okay.
Mary: And I cannot get it to maintain a connection and not only that but whether it*s online or offline everything runs very, very slowly. Al the pages are running slowly online or offline.
David Lawrence: Right.
Mary: And I don*t know what to do. I don*t know what settings to change or I tried lots of different things and I am just not sure how do I manage this problem. There is not a computer attached to the router. The modem and the router stand alone and then 2 computers.
David Lawrence: Right. So let*s take a look at what*s going on with your laptop. Your laptop is running slowly overall correct. It won*t maintain a connection with, how far away is your laptop usually from where your, the base is, the actual wireless router?

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
