Greg: Hey how is it going?

David Lawrence: Going well how can I help you sir?

Greg: I have got I don*t know lot about computers but what I have got is a speed problem with my cable connection. I have a Comcast which works very good accept I tend to have a speed it's slow all the time.

David Lawrence: All the time or just recently?

Greg: Well all the time

David Lawrence: Because I can tell you what*s being going on with Comcast is that over the past week or two or three they have been upgrading their systems and it's called the Bedrock project and they are trying to sort of fortify what they have been doing because they are expanding into other services like Voice over IP and Video On Demand and all this stuff via not just the typical cable system that would come out of your television but also over the Internet and so they have been suffering as they have been pulling equipment out and putting equipment in it is so invasive and considerable that there has actually been network outages that people have been complaining about and I have noticed it on several lists that I am on not only the broadcast engineering list but also other list that deal with technology and deal with the Internet and whatnot. So they have been suffering and will continue they put the messages up on their website saying you are going to continue to do this upgrade through most of May and into June. But in the end it will be a much better system for those of you that are Comcast subscribers.

Greg: Right I had realized that because I have heard it on the news I think it was couple days ago. But I have also wanted why even before that I have even called them and they said well the connection looks okay this is before they have that problem. And I just don*t understand why.

David Lawrence: Let me ask you some questions are you on a Mac or PC?

Greg: PC.

David Lawrence: And what version of the operating system are you using?

Greg: Windows 2000.

David Lawrence: So Windows 2K is the precursor to XP. It's actually what XP is with the very nice interface. And you know there are things that are optimized for XP that should work just fine with 2K. Is it 2K Pro?

Greg: No I don*t think it is.
