David Lawrence: Okay the Geek Speak for this hour is OSI. We will get to that just in a second. This portion of the show brought to you by GoDaddy. Whenever I need to pump up my web presence I use www.godaddy.com the #1 domain registrar. There live 24x7 can*t be beat. They just opened up a second support center a call center and so they will stand with you. Get domains for just $3.99. Buy anything else you get it for just $3.99 plus my listeners right now you get an additional dollar off any order, just enter David as your promo code. Make your name with www.godaddy.com. You can tell anybody you want about that David code spread the word let*s get people that take a dollar off of stuff at GoDaddy. Alright what is OSI? Open Systems Interconnect. Now this is a standard to as it was an attempt to get everybody will agree on common networking standards to get everybody to interoperate together. And the OSI model is a common model of protocol layers that lets people design for networks to rely on other people*s work and that they would all work together Open Systems Interconnect and everybody sort of took it on and the big thing that happened was the TCP/IP sort of took over. TCP/IP was a system that was very, very simple compared to OSI and so it took over so also did SMTP over extra 400. A lot of things happened but OSI was the first attempt of the industry to actually speak to one another rather than IBM creating its own stuff and Intel creating its own stuff and in the old days you know ________16.42 and all these companies creating their own things. They all got together and they said hey let*s work together on this so that we can build a huge business rather than individual businesses, OSI, Open Systems Interconnect that was the precursor so there you go. That is this hour*s Geek Speak and it is brought to by our friends at www.safetylaser.com. You may have seen the new stories this week about how airports are going to start using lasers not to fill the cockpit with laser light to blind the pilots but to get them to come-in in certain weather conditions and when there is visibility issues. Well the Safety Laser Flare works in a similar way when you get lost. It helps the search planes or the search teams and the vehicles that might be above or below you find you because this little device really does a wonderful job about lasting the traditional flares it's not fire it's a laser and it goes a long distance it can be seen 20 miles away at night, 3 miles away during the day. It is 100 bucks and it's the best 100 buck insurance you will ever buy if you outdoors and you are hiking or you are camping or you are exploring or you are spelunking or you are on the lake or the river. Check it out at www.safetylaser.com.

David Lawrence: 180039 Online that*s our telephone number 18003966546 as I mentioned and we are going to talk a lot about Podcasting tonight so if you have questions about Podcasting we would love to answer them. I helped Wil Wheaton design a system today and we are going to sort of talk about the system that we put together for him so that he could go on Podcast while he plays as a celebrity in the World Poker Tour. And then also again if you have got simple questions feel free to ask those don*t be afraid that here on the show the only thing you can do is play stump the geek. I have a lot of people who say you know I am just afraid to call you because my question is just so basic, don*t be afraid. 180039 online that*s our telephone number 18003966546. We kick off with Greg, hey Greg.
