David Lawrence: Right that*s exactly your problem, now if he is buying of iTunes that*s one thing but if he is going on KaZaA or Grokster or all these other companies that have this huge ad networks that get installed when you install them that*s what slowing your machine down. And it*s nothing more than that. The answer is to have a long talk with your son about respecting peoples* rights explaining to him that the record industry is really all about and not allowing him to rip off the artist directly. Because even though he is getting all these great music for free your machine is now running as slow as molasis. Hence my rent of about 20 minutes ago.

David Lawrence: Just 1 or 2 that I know but yes how can I help you?

John: I have got a 9.5 gigabytes AVI file that I want to download on to one DVD. And I want to know if there is any way to compressing that or fit on to one DVD.

David Lawrence: Sure what you want to do is lower the resolution and frame rate of that AVI file and you can use any number of pieces of software to do that. Adobe premier elements will do that for you. How long is the actual movie itself?

John: 42_ minutes I think.

David Lawrence: Right and now you know that when you go to the store and you get a DVD, you rent one or you buy those are 2-3 hour movies on there plus all kinds of directors* versions and special elements and all that stuff. So obviously they can fit a lot more on there. So what you have got is you have got a full raw AVI file and it just hasn*t been compressed yet for DVD use.

John: Okay is that when I download of my DVD, my DV Digital Video Recorder, I have got a camera. Is there any way to compress in that down?

David Lawrence: Well what software you are using to edit that.

John: I have got Windows XP Home.

David Lawrence: Right but that*s your operating system, I am asking you.

John: Yes it*s got a Movie Maker on that.

David Lawrence: And Windows Movie Maker can do this for you as well.
