So if the first level is File and etc. when you click on File you get all the menu items of that menu New, Open, Save, Print etc. Each of these choices is one item on that menu, it is a menu item. So a menu bar is what*s across the top of the, across the top of the windows, menus are the things that dropdown from the items on the menu bar.
