David Lawrence: You know well it*s not giving it to you so. Is your sound on board or is it a separate soundcard?

Alan: It*s a soundcard.

David Lawrence: Alright have you tried just simply powering the machine down, taking the card out, booting the machine up, shutting the machine down, putting the card back in and booting the machine up and letting it re-register and re-recognize the soundcard?

Alan: No.

David Lawrence: That*s exactly the first thing that I would try. Because there is a feature of Windows called *Plug n* Play* which basically says when it encounters a new piece of hardware attached to the machine it goes oh look a new piece of hardware attached to the machine. Now it doesn*t know that it used to be the same piece of hardware, it just sees it as something new. And the way you set it to see something new as you take it out after you shut down you boot up with it out so that it sets its configuration to be without it. And then when you shut down the next time and then plug it back in and restart it goes aha there is something new. And it will go out and look for the driver and it will do all the things that it does when it encounters that new sub. I would try that first.

Alan: Okay.

David Lawrence: Alright?

Alan: What*s this blank Device Manager?

David Lawrence: I have no idea what caused it. I am just giving you the option as to what might bring it back.

Alan: Add/Remove hardware doesn*t seem to be working.

David Lawrence: You shouldn*t do that. All you do is shut it down, slide it out and do that process, okay?

Alan: Thank you very much.

David Lawrence: I appreciate it. 180039 Online is our telephone number. David you are on Online Tonight with David Lawrence hello.

David: Hi David I got a Mac.
