David Lawrence: I just got a piece of E-mail from the director of a film that I shot for the last two weeks, week and a half to a week something like that. We just had a rap party principle photography ended about a week ago and we had a rap party in town. He said hey I am working on a website, you are going to love it I know you are into technology and all that stuff. And he asked me to go check out the website and you know play with the different pieces of software and whatnot. And the sound on the website, the sound as used in the website was very, very faint. it is very quiet. And I said hey it's looks great you can go to www.geminimax.com if you want to check it out the name of the movie is Gemini Max the Glowing Goddess. And I played both of the lead characters Max and Maximilian who were twins. Hence the Gemini as well as the mother-in-law which is very funny. And there are little sound clips that they play when you click on the different characters in the film and they were very hard to hear. So he said you know what do I use for that how do I make the sound louder and it actually ties into Podcasting, you might record something at a lower volume. And then you use a process called normalization to raise the overall volume to full volume of your of your sound file. And I told him about normalization because what software should I use for that sort of thing and there is a great piece of free software that we will talk about in 10 Quick Steps to Podcasting. That we did talk about in another guide that*s available over at the 10 Quick Steps, I called 10 Quick Steps to Converting LPs to CDs it's free Sound Editing Software called Audacity. And this software is available to open source, it's free, it's supported by a big community of users. You can find out all about and get versions of it from Macintosh for Windows for Linux you know it's great, it's Audacity. Just like the word why that*s audacious. Audacity what audacity that floozy has www.audacity.sourceforge.net completely free. And it's really and it's like the younger brother of ProTools which cost a lot of money, the least expenses you will ever spend on Pro Tools is like 450 bucks. So it's pretty good and it does a lot of the same things, certainly anything that you need for generating sound and editing sound on your Mac your PC so it*s very, very cool. www.audacity.sourceforge.net and I am sending this back to him right now.

This was a really cool shoot because I was actually on the set against the green screen. Like they would have done with the actors in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Or any of the other combination live action and animated films and it was I did wirework, where is upon wires flying upon really cool. And I am looking forward to be in post production for a year. That*s how long it's takes to do those kinds of films but it will be worth at in the end, so go check it out at www.geminimax.com see what I am talking about.
