Product Description
My boyhood in a small town in Connecticut was shaped by my family, my friends, our neighbors, my chores and hobbies, the town's culture and environment, its schools, libraries, factories, and businesses, their workers, and by storms that came from nowhere to disrupt everything. . . . Yet childhood in any family is a mysterious experience. . . . What shapes the mind, the personality, the character?
So begins this unexpected and extraordinary book by Ralph Nader. Known for his lifetime of selfless activism, Nader now looks back to the earliest days of his own life, to his serene and enriching childhood in bucolic Winsted, Connecticut. From listening to learning, from patriotism to argument, from work to simple enjoyment, Nader revisits seventeen key traditions he absorbed from his parents, his siblings, and the people in his community, and draws from them inspiring lessons for today's society. Warmly human, rich with sensory memories and lasting wisdom, it offers a kind of modern-day parable of how we grow from children into responsible adults--a reminder of a time when nature and community were central to the way we all learned and lived.

Product Description
Four generations of Americans know Ralph Nader as the man who stands up for consumer and worker rights, an advocate on the leading edge of political and social issues from car safety in the '60s to recent protests against the World Trade Organization. This landmark collection brings Nader's writings together for the first time, creating a remarkable portrait of the activist. Lively and articulate, Nader tackles such topics as environmental concerns, Native America, women's rights, nuclear power, corporate corruption, digital democracy, the monolithic Microsoft, and genetically engineered food. This hefty volume is an invaluable resource for those interested in creating change and a testimony to the effectiveness of vigilant citizenship.

The Water Lords
This book was a life changing experience. I was in school studying environmental engineering when I read it. The Water Lord focused my perspective on my life goals and ambitions. It was followed by "The Limits to Growth" as another "life changing read", and most recently by "An Inconvenient Truth". These are all must reads for anyone that loves the planet we call home and that we will hopefully pass on to our children in at least as good shape as we found it.

Goal based investigation
Regulation proponent Ralph Nader directed his group in an effort to study monopolies and how government supports them. A pointed and accusatory read, big business is described as an irredeamable taskmaster who seeks to influence or control employees, competitors and consumers alike. Most of the facts and quotes that are used to support these broad wandering accusations and goals are obviously too twisted and disjointed for any real analysis. Quite clearly, they often mix opposing or incompatable findings. Sometimes the read is entertaining but more often it is like the ravings of the confused. Written in 71, printed in 73, this book is only good for historical research of Nader's writings or socialist based theories.

Product Description
Ralph Nader is one of America's most passionate and effective social critics. He has been called a muckraker, a consumer crusader, and America's public defender. The cars we drive, the food we eat, the water we drink-their safety has been enhanced largely due to Ralph Nader. His inspiration and example have rallied consumer advocates, citizen activists, public interest lawyers, and government officials into action, and in the 2000 election, nearly three million people voted for him.
An inspiring and defiant memoir, Crashing the Party takes us inside Nader's campaign and explains what it took to fight the two-party juggernaut; why Bush and Gore were really afraid to let him in on their debates; why progressive Democrats have been left behind and ignored by their party; how Democrat and Republican interests have been lost to corporate bankrolling; and what needs to happen in the future for people to take back their political system.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
