Quilling?also known as paper filigree or scroll work?is the art of rolling very thin strips of paper into elegant shapes, turning them into beautiful designs, and then gluing them onto a base for display. This new guide from the prolific Marie Browning presents a range of techniques, both traditional and new, that will delight and intrigue crafters. In addition to offering 28 unique shapes, it introduces some contemporary quilling possibilities such as husking, fringing, crimping and sculpting. Even beginners will enjoy creating simple but very attractive greeting cards and measuring their progress on more involved projects, including home décor items (like a Wedding Tin and Framed Botanicals) and beautiful jewelry.

• More book stuff
My H. is ready for the craft show. I am...not. Fortunately we're sharing a table. I keep getting excited about more ideas rather than getting into production mode. I'm going to have 2 each of lots of different things rather than 20 each of two different things (as I had intended). I don't think I'm cut out for production mode. All I can think about is paper houses and quilling. Must think about finishing a few things! Say, numbers on clocks? On a totally unrelated note, I've been meaning

Welcome to the November 24, 2008 (Better Late, Than Never) Edition of the Review Bloggers Carnival! It's no secret. I like getting stuff. I like writing about the stuff that we like and perhaps make my family's life a little easier. Especially, if it works! Or, I haven't managed to break it...YET! Do you have a review blog - or, perhaps found a product (or, service) that you really, really like and you're aching to share with the rest of the blogosphere - then, you may be interested to lea
• Lehigh 17, Lafayette 12 at halftime
Great first half by the Mountain Hawks. The problem is they're up only up five when they should be up by more. A horrible snap to an unaware J.B. Clark went through the end zone and produced a Lafayette safety and the ensuing kick from the 20 led to a field goal that put the Leopards ahead 12-10. But Clark, who is 9-for-16 for 153 yards at halftime, was 4-for-5 for 82 yards on a brilliant drive that culminated in a 14-yard TD toss to Nick Johnson that returned the lead to the Mountain Hawks
• Good start for Lehigh
Lehigh leads Lafayette 10-0 with just over 7 minutes gone in this 144th meeting with Lafayette on College Hill. So far, virtually everything has gone the Brown and White's way. First, Tim Diamond roars through the middle on a blitz and pounded Lafayette QB and Parkland grad Marc Quilling as he threw the ball, leading to an interception by Heath Brickner. That set up Lehigh at their own 49. A big 23-yard strike to Mike Fitzgerald leads to a 40-yard field goal by Jason Leo. Wow, is that a great

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
