David Lawrence: Rather than this junk, either a foreign language or some images or some HTML code then perhaps your account is at risk. But usually these cases occur and they occur quite often. You can imagine how many times this occurs with a very common Email address like oh I don*t know lawrence@aol.com.
John: Yes.
David Lawrence: I have had to clean up thousands of these bounces because Spammers will use a common Email address or just pick one out of the blue, find someone on somebody*s hard drive, find the piece of Email somewhere and use it because they want to as the fake return address for a piece of Email. Now this happens simply by changing the text that is sent out by a Spammer*s Email tool. When you send that Email on the internet all you are doing is sending around a text trial. The text trial is usually created by an Email program but it doesn*t have to be. As long as it could be injected into the Internet via an Email Server an SMTP Server then it doesn*t matter what created it or what sent it. So what*s happened here is that somebody used your Email address as the fake return address for a piece of Email. The fact that you changed your password, great that*s not going to hurt anything and in fact it*s great because in case somebody may have your password that you are not aware of now they don*t. But don*t worry about it. It wasn*t somebody getting into your account and sending Email on your behalf. It was simply somebody faking the from header in the Email and they just happened to use your return address. So not a problem and second part of your question is it safe to store passwords on a website, right?
John: Right.
David Lawrence: What server what ISP do you use?
John: Verizon.
David Lawrence: So what you are saying is and let me be clear on this. You are getting your Email through Verizon*s web interface or you are using Outlook Express or an equivalent?
John: Well I have it going out through Outlook.
David Lawrence: Okay Outlook doesn*t store your password on their servers. It simply stores it inside the program or if you are using a company*s exchange server on the exchange server but not on Verizon*s servers. So you certainly can if nobody else is using your machine and it*s in a fairly secure location and it*s annoying to type in your password all the time if you are constantly checking your Email like very 4 minutes, you know we haven*t setup to do that you don*t want to be typing your password all the time. It*s important that you do store your password in the accounts area in Outlook. But that is not storing it on the server.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
