Richard: I see.
David Lawrence: Does that make sense?
Richard: Yeah it sounds kind of. I am not totally familiar but it does make sense here.
David Lawrence: Okay, do you have a broadband connection?
Richard: No.
David Lawrence: You don*t, you have dialup right now. Are you going to get a broadband connection?
Richard: Currently I don*t think so.
David Lawrence: DSL, Cable either one of those?
Richard: I wasn*t planning.
David Lawrence: Wasn*t planning okay. Here is another way you can do it. There is something called a crossover cable and it looks just like an Ethernet cable but there are 2 wires that are actually crossed over between the two ends of the cable. They sell them at CompUSA and Best Buy and places like that. If you plug those 2 together you can network the two machines simply by using this crossover cable as the connection.
Richard: Aha.
David Lawrence: Alright?
Richard: Okay.
David Lawrence: Once you do that you can do the same thing. You can network the 2 machines together and you can drag the data over.
Richard: Okay sounds great.
David Lawrence: Now there is another product, one last option. There is another product called Alohabob. And if you look at that they have a lot of different options for getting all of the data from an older machine onto a newer machine including going out and getting new drivers, including making sure that the application software that you are dragging over is properly registered. So you might want to look at that program. It*s a commercial program. It costs a bit of money but it makes your life so much easier.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
