Food GLorious Food is not a diet or cookbook in the traditional sense, but rather a celebration of the ingredients that can help us all to eat a healthier diet. This is no tough dietary regime though - the recipes are delicious and exciting and have the added advantage of being low GL too. That means you - and your guests - can enjoy meals that are both deeply satisfying and health enriching. Written in association with Fiona McDonald Joyce, who specialises in healthy food that doesn't compromise on taste, Food GLorious Food is filled with dishes that'll impress family and friends - without the need to resort to creamy sauces, sugar-laden concoctions or overly complex cooking texhniques. With everything from curries to healthy roasts and gluten-free chocolate brownies, good food is firmly on the menu. This book is essential reading for anyone who wants to feel and look healthier and boost energy levels, without disappointing their taste buds.

McDonald?s restaurants are found in over 100 countries, serving tens of millions of people each day. What are the cultural implications of this phenomenal success? The widely read?and widely acclaimed?Golden Arches East argues that McDonald?s has largely become divorced from its American roots and become a ?local? institution for an entire generation of affluent consumers in Hong Kong, Beijing, Taipei, Seoul, and Tokyo. In the second edition, James L. Watson also covers recent attacks on the fast-food chain as a symbol of American imperialism, and the company?s role in the obesity controversy currently raging in the U.S. food industry, bringing the story of East Asian franchises into the twenty-first century.
Praise for the First Edition:
?Golden Arches East is a fascinating study that explores issues of globalization by focusing on the role of McDonald?s in five Asian economies and [concludes] that in many countries McDonald?s has been absorbed by local communities and become assimilated, so that it is no longer thought of as a foreign restaurant and in some ways no longer functions as one.? ?Nicholas Kristof, New York Times Book Review
?This is an important book because it shows accurately and with subtlety how transnational culture emerges. It must be read by anyone interested in globalization. It is concise enough to be used for courses in anthropology and Asian studies.? ?Joseph Bosco, China Journal
?The strength of this book is that the contributors contextualize not just the food side of McDonald's, but the social and cultural activity on which this culture is embedded. These are culturally rich stories from the anthropology of everyday life.? ?Paul Noguchi, Journal of Asian Studies
?Here is the rare academic study that belongs in every library.??Library Journal

First up we have this one:"McDonald's is set to become the UK's largest apprenticeship provider, offering all workers the chance to qualify in "multi-skilled hospitality".The fast food chain said government funding meant it could offer the scheme to one in eight of its staff this year and up to 10,000 every year from 2010.The McDonald's apprenticeship will be equivalent to five GCSEs at A* to C."From the communist BBC News.Yet at the same time we also have The government launching its Change 4 L
• Dump 10 Facebook friends, get a free Whooper
Fresh from their ?Whopper Virgins? ad campaign against arch rival McDonalds', fast food chain Burger King has launched another rather offensive campaign - this time using Facebook. Burger King has created "Whopper Sacrifice," a hilarious Facebook application that awards you a coupon for a free hamburger if you dump 10 people from your friends list. Whopper Sacrifice?s website says:... ...

Healthy Foods on the Rise January 7th, 2009 by Patrick Glancy, BCH This generation will forever be known as the XXL generation. After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
