Harlem World
By:
List Price: $18.98
Amazon Price: $7.95

Amazon.com
Harlem World describes a hedonistic lifestyle infomercialist Tom Vu would envy. Girls, riches, mo' money, mo' problems--it's all part of the game when you're Sean "Puffy" Combs's protégé, Mase. With his distinctive, narcoleptic vocals, Mase paints vivid pictures of singular Mase-ian problems on the dance-floor hits "Feel So Good," "Cheat On U," and "Wanna Hurt Mase?" Harlem World seems like a nice shiny package of proven hit making; problem is, Mase packs the charisma of Matt Dillon (always promising, but always the supporting actor). He has trouble keeping Harlem World interesting, hence the preponderance of guests, including Busta Rhymes, Lil' Kim, Jay-Z, Total, and Puffy, of course. Good news: the Puff Daddy chop shop is open for beat recycling, and Harlem World will ring more than a few bells of recognition. Not-so-good news: Puffy's style of commercial rap is dependent on charisma (see the Notorious B.I.G. and Lil' Kim), and Mase is running on empty. --Todd Inoue

Double Up
By:
List Price: $13.98
Amazon Price: $3.02

Amazon.com
These are the things you need to know about Double Up, Mase's sophomore effort. "Stay Out of My Way" samples Madonna and Public Enemy; "Get Ready" rides a interpolation of Shalamar's "Night to Remember" (curiously nothing is heard from the Temptations' classic "Get Ready"); "Make Me Cry" samples Fleetwood Mac and Natalie Cole. And so on. Yeah baby, Puff Daddy taught his protégé well. Like his mentor, Mase is not a preposessing rapper, and his monotone can become rather wearying since he rarely changes cadences. His rhymes are pedestrian at best--he rhymes "Lewinsky" with "convince me," but he's not talking politics. Still, this is a good party or hip-hop dance-class album; the production is razor sharp and the samples are well chosen. Unlike most hip-hop that demands to be foreground, Mase makes music that is perfectly content to be pleasant, lightly funky background music. --Martin Johnson

CUSTOMER REVIEW:
for the family
This Cd was a good comeback for the pastor Mase, he stayed respectful and rap about life, reality, money, cars, and relationships and of course God. I cant judge nobody so i wont but i can critque and say i didnt like the fact that it seem like he crompromise for the world but maybe he didnt maybe thats how he felt lead, but the cd was good start to finish its for kids, women and men who just dont want to hear about killing and pimping, Hope Mase got back in order and drop another one of these, but better and with more of God in it,

10 Years of Hate: G-Unit Radio, Pt. 16

List Price: $9.98
Amazon Price: $5.22

CUSTOMER REVIEW:
Welcome back
Welcome back Mase. Why you tried to send the message that your still a gangster after ten years of preaching is beyond me. You also sent the message that money can make a person give up religion but hey whatever. Critcism aside this was a decent album that showed why Mase was a loved artist when he was at his peak, it was lacking in some of his old swagger but it was still a decent album.
