Rod: Oh thanks for taking the call, David.

David Lawrence: Sure, how can I help you sir.

Rod: I have Macintosh G4 Power and I am installing a second internal hard drive in it. Got that accomplished I think I have the system profiler recognizes it, tells me all about it. But I am not able to write to it and that will show up on the desktop. And I am kind of at my, we tend to figure out what the problem is?

David Lawrence: Then it has not been installed properly and frankly a Macintosh Internal Hard Drive is not something you should you be doing on your own. #1 you violate the guarantee. And #2, it is not a simple as plugging in an external drive, it depends on what version of the drive you have? What drivers you have? Are they Mac OS 10? Whatever version you have Tiger, Panther, Jaguar compatible. For 30 bucks it is worth taking it to the store and having them do it because then they have to make it appear on the desktop. They have to make they have to make it writable and readable. The fact that the system profilers sees it that just means that the hardware is being recognized but it's certainly doesn*t mean that it's being installed correctly. Does it make sense?
