and this is not a commercial for Johnson & Johnson or for LifeScan, because this is actually a letter that I got in the mail today that I believe went out to all users of OneTouch Ultra Meters. The date on this letter is April 11th 2005. Why I am getting this on June 11th is beyond me, I mean this should have been in my mail box long ago. But what it's calling out is, it's says you are a LifeScan customer, our record show you may use an OneTouch Ultra Blood Glucose Meter. In fact I have two one for, when I travel and one for here at the studio. We want to make you aware of two possible issues regarding your meter and I thought oh gosh if the software is bad or the hardware is bad and I would be getting bad results all this time, no, no. Your meter was designed to show results in two different units of measure milligrams per deciliter and millimoles per liter which is basically weight versus molecular count. And the difference between the two of them could make it bad for you in terms of what you are measuring. A good range is between 70 and 110 when you are measuring milligrams per deciliter that*s the sugar in the blood, in a deciliter of blood there is there is this much sugar, this many milligrams of sugar. And if you have got round to hundred that*s fine 90 is great, 80 is better. Millimoles per liter though is another method of measuring blood and your LifeScan, it could be possible when setting your meter*s date and time, it is back to the letter again. When setting your meter*s date and time it is possible for you to accidentally change the unit of measure. You may then misunderstand your blood glucose levels, if your meter is set to the wrong unit of measure. For example if it's an 104 milligrams per deciliter which is what the normal United States method is for measuring blood, sugar by the way no were else in the world everywhere else in the world it's millimoles per liter. A 104 reading in milligrams per deciliter in the United States is 5.3 millimoles per liter. And then way another the right off the bad is that when you start to talk to your doctor about how much blood sugar you have got going. He is going to go what 53, 5.3 that doesn*t make any sense. So if you are starting off and you just bought a new meter but you haven*t talked to your doctor, this maybe something that you want to be aware of. Here is the reason they send this letter out, this is number #2 in a 2 point letter, very rarely an event such as dropping your meter while using it can cause a brief power loss, as a result the meter may unexpectedly change the unit of measure and/or the code number, each time you test make sure your meter*s unit of measure is set to milligrams per deciliter or mg/dL rather than millimoles per liter or mmol/L. And a good way to find out what it is, just to look for a decimal point. If there is a decimal point in your reading that*s not the way we take blood sugar measurements here in United States. It*s all on the display and I use this Ultra because it's like having a PDA as well as a blood sugar machine, glucometer. It keeps track of all your blood sugar overtime and for very little more money than the other of glucometers on the market, you can actually see trends. You can see if you are doing well, you can see if you are slipping into bad habits that could be making your blood sugar go up. It*s every so often you will get your blood sugar go 120 or whatever 125 I just stayed or whatever. But it has all the options of putting in there that*s why I use the OneTouch Ultra after exercise, after food, before food, before exercise from rest and so on. And also it notes what time you are taking your glucose measurements, so

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
