David Lawrence: So then I would look to an updated driver. I would go to the Yamaha site this is just a thought that I would take.

John: They have portable driver writing it. It*s been a battle for the last year and a half.

David Lawrence: Well then that's probably your problem. I mean I can understand that what Yamaha device are you using?

John: The I88X.

David Lawrence: Which is?

John: It*s audio FireWire interface that has the Preamp from the $20000 DM2000 Mixer. So it*s a nice Preamp but it*s great on the Mac and it*s a nightmare on the PC.

David Lawrence: So I just got the Edirol UA-25 because it*s the only interface FireWire or USB that has a built in limiter. And my choices were either that or grabbing like a TASCAM -122 and maybe a II Pro or a Pro Arts the little tiny pass through loopable compressor. It just was one more box to carry around in my small bag and I just didn't want to do it so I went with the Edirol and it seems to work fine. I had it setup earlier and the audio was really nice. I have c countryman mike that I am running into it. Its just gorgeous and the limiter seems to work fine I mean I saw it working and I saw it pulling down the audio and it seemed to be a nice soft neon and so that seems to be working but that doesn*t help you. It just me bragging, and its just me bragging but I would just sort of meander my way and see if there is anything going on with the drivers that's what it sounds like is the issue.

John: Okay the only question one of the quick question for you for running also I thought about installing WindowBlinds its skinning programs for XP and they claim that it doesn*t make a performance state and that's the more efficient than the Windows GUI any thoughts?

David Lawrence: I have heard that same thing I am aghast that they would make those claims.

John: And they say they are certified by a Microsoft.

David Lawrence: Yeah well if that's the case if both of those are true then I will accept that. And I would imagine that because they publish that then Microsoft has, is well aware of it and they would publish it, it wasn*t true because they would be all over them like white on rice pretty quickly. If that's the case then they are in fact cooking into the operating system at a very low level. And it may very well be, that they are replacing a graphic routine over 7 and they are more efficient. I tend to kind of want to shy away from that you know my advice would be to try it out I would backup first as usual. And maybe have a restore point setup try it down see that if it works for you and see if that makes the Yamaha work as who knows.

John: Aye thanks for everything David keep your help up.
