compressed it is the full feudality huge file in all of its blazing glory but it is unwieldy. It is hard to get around the Internet it's hard to store in a reasonable way 10 minutes will cost you 10 megabits of storage for mp3 will cost you almost a 100 megabits for a wave file. So the question is how do you make these files smaller? Long time ago people figured out how to use compression audio compression to bring these files down in size and the most common one by far is mp3 refer to that that stands for MPEG layer 1. I am sorry MPEG-1 Layer 3 and that is a form of taking a file that*s you know x size and bringing it down to 1/10th or 1/4th depending upon the quality level that you get that you get from a final file. The higher the quality the large is the file but it is compressed audio compression. And this is a lossy algorithm meaning that some of the data is gone. But to the ear it sounds so similar that it is acceptable. That*s what audio compression means and that is this hour*s Geek Speak brought to you by www.visitorville.com instead of mind numbing tech stats of unique visitors, page views and what not get a roller coaster tycoon like view of your website with buildings cabs busses and the people roaming about your website in real time. Dave: Hi David.
David Lawrence: Allentown Pennsylvania Meatball Sub, volunteer fire department okay we are completely caught up. How can I help you sir?
Dave: Okay I just want to profess my comment by my question rather by saying that you know I backup all my systems you know which is the Mac store hard drives you know and thanks to you and your terrific advice I mean that has saved my bacon on more that one occasion.
David Lawrence: Terrific.
Dave: Yeah but a thought occurs to me with everything going out with the Hurricane Katrina stuff. If I can get those hard drives out of my house then I am going to have a problem. So I was wondering, I have never really heard you talk anything about any of the online backup systems as being sort of like secondary kind of backup system sort of the belled in suspenders kind of idea. And like it thoughts just want to know what your thoughts were.
David Lawrence: Well the two things number 1 we often counsel people to go one step further than just having a hard drive next to your computer that you backup to it's nice that it's separate from the computer. But do have a second one that you backup to as well using the same software that you take with you away from the computer if you are backing up your home computer. Take we get another Mac store one touch we get another Fireware another USB 2 drive. Back it up right along with it once you get the once I get the first backup done the rest of them are kind of simple. And take input in

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
