Every Second Counts
By: Lance Armstrong
List Price: $14.00
Amazon Price: $3.35

Product Description

Since the release of his megabestseller, It?s Not About the Bike, Lance Armstrong has enjoyed a new series of thrilling rides, including the birth of his twin daughters, being chosen as Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated, and extending his string of Tour victories to a record-tying fifth in 2003. Continuing the inspiring story begun in his first book, Every Second Counts captures the mind-set of a man who has beaten incredible odds and considers each day an opportunity for excellence.

Armstrong?s previous book recounted his journey from a grim diagnosis of testicular cancer, which had spread to his lungs and brain, to a stunning recovery that culminated in his winning the 1999 Tour de France?the ultimate evidence that he had also won a daunting battle with death. His new book addresses the equally daunting challenge of living in the aftermath of this experience and making the most of every breath of life. Armstrong candidly discusses his prickly relationship with the French and the ultimately disproved accusations of doping within his Tour de France team, and he writes about his recent achievements, including celebrating five years of cancer survival and how he restored a magnificent chapel in his beloved Spain.

A fresh perspective on the spirit of survivors everywhere, Every Second Counts will invigorate and enthrall Armstrong?s millions of admirers.

Live Strong: Inspirational Stories from Cancer Survivors-from Diagnosis to Tr...
By: The Lance Armstrong Foundation
List Price: $19.95
Amazon Price: $5.90

Product Description
Since the now ubiquitous LIVESTRONG? wristbands became available in May 2004, the Lance Armstrong Foundation has raised more than $50 million for cancer survivorship programs, and the signature phrase has become a battle cry for those who fight the disease every day.

Now, the Lance Armstrong Foundation has compiled, from hours of videotaped interviews, poignant and dramatic personal accounts from cancer survivors. Covering a wide range of subjects, from grief to spousal relationships, employment discrimination to coping with medical bills, infertility to fear of recurrence, survivors share their experiences and speak candidly about how cancer has impacted their lives. For twenty-four-year-old Amy it?s how her illness changed her relationship with her parents. Mike, a male survivor of breast cancer, talks about gender stereotypes and genetic testing. And Eric, the father of a five-year-old survivor of a brain tumor, recalls how friends and strangers helped his family with financial issues and how the experience brought him and his wife closer together.

While heartbreaking at times, these powerfully honest stories are ultimately uplifting and extremely reassuring to patients and their families. They offer the wisdom and hope that only survivors can give. LiveStrong is a remarkable testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

From the introduction by Lance Armstrong:

My work with the LAF shows me daily that sharing our stories and learning from one another?s experiences helps us cancer survivors continue to survive. Some people think the cancer experience is only about the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as if after the disease goes into remission, it no longer exists. But survivorship goes beyond remission. Survivorship is an evolution.

No Mountain High Enough: Raising Lance, Raising Me
By: Linda Armstrong Kelly
List Price: $24.95
Amazon Price: $3.00

Product Description
From the mother of champion cyclist Lance Armstrong?an extraordinary story of the resilience of the human spirit and the remarkable effect of great parenting.

Lance Armstrong has dazzled the world with his six straight Tour de France championships, his winning personality, and his poignant victory over life-threatening cancer. Yet the adage that "behind every strong man there is a stronger woman" has never been more true than in Lance?s case. His mother, Linda Armstrong Kelly, is a force of nature whose determination, optimism, and sheer joie de vivre not only nurtured one of our era?s greatest athletes but fueled her own transformation from a poverty-stricken teen in the Dallas projects to a powerful role model for mothers everywhere. This luminous memoir, written with humor and compassion, tells Linda?s story of survival.

Pregnant at age seventeen, kicked out of her home, and mired in an abusive relationship, Linda was a perfect candidate for disaster. But armed with a fierce belief in herself as a work in progress, and buoyed by a tidal wave of love for her little boy, Linda flouted statistics and became both a corner-office executive and a no-nonsense, empowering mom whose desire to excel was contagious. Her resolve to find ?the diamond in the Dumpster, the blessing in every bummer? set an extraordinary example for Lance?and will inspire everyday moms to dream big and make a difference.

Funny, resonant, down-to-earth, and utterly unforgettable, No Mountain High Enough is exhilarating proof that sheer willpower can?and occasionally does?triumph over adversity.

From Linda Armstrong Kelly?s No Mountain High Enough:

?This is what it means to be a mother, I realized. It had nothing to do with being old enough or knowing everything or keeping to a strict schedule. It had to do with loving someone with a love so huge, the rest of the world becomes insignificant by comparison. No fear I felt would ever amount to anything, compared to what I felt for my child. No task would ever be too hard for me. No one would ever be able to make me feel small. I was The Mama. You don?t get any bigger than that.?

CUSTOMER REVIEW:
Vivir siempre...

What we can learn from Lance Armstrong, the Evangelist
With all due respect to Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, I believe the greatest athlete of our lifetime is Lance Armstrong.  SEVEN Tour de France championships?  Seriously?  Of course, his greatest battle came against cancer.  And the war he?s waging against the disease is similar to that of an old-time evangelist.  Passion. Conviction. A movement-builder. Now, from what I understand, Lance is not a follower of Jesus. At the same time, I believe there are some lessons we Jesus-followers • Too Little, ?Too Late?
An Italian watch company has caused madness in their homeland for their ?Too Late? rubber watches. The only difference between these things and that Lance Armstrong era-inspired rubber wristband trend from 2004 are: 1) Nothing OK, well, these watches do tell the time, and you can?t really get them for free during Health Awareness Week with an inspirational quote stamped on them (also, the cost is about $29 and the money doesn?t go to your fav charity. Blaspheme)! Fashion victims wear • Phelps soon to be named King of the World
The Year of Phelps continues. First he wins eight gold medals. (You might have heard something about it.) Then he scores an absurdly hot girlfriend, despite giving this looker a run for his money for sexiest man alive. His streak continues with being named the 2008 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. Phelps is the first swimmer to earn this honor, which in the past has been given to athletes including Muhammad Ali, Lance Armstrong and Michael Jordan. • The 2009 Livestrong Challenge Ride
I?m thinking about joining Team Fatty for the Livestrong ride. I?d have to do it in Philly, and I?ve never been to Philly, which frankly was a streak I?d hoped to keep alive. On day one of the push, Fat Cyclist raised about $10k to fight cancer, and since Monday about 240 people have signed up. The best part (well, not the ?best? part) is that you don?t even really have to go to the ride. You can sit on your couch and watch 1980s movies; all you need to do is want to fight some cancer. Yo • It?s Official: Lance to Race in 2009 Tour de Fance
I?m excited about this. Why? Because he won the Tour de France 7 times, beat cancer and has created a monster force of a movement to fight cancer head on. Oh?and at 37 is going for his 8th Tour de France win. I love his tough tenacious way. Check out a little bit of this post below? This part below is written by MOTS The Associated Press reports that Lance Armstrong will ride in the 2009 Tour de France. It will be the first time he will compete in the Tour and the Giro d?Italia in the sam
