David Lawrence: Hey there thanks for tuning into the show. I appreciate it very much. It*s our weekend edition of the show. During the week we are all about pop culture and current events and politics and goofiness and a little bit of a tech in there but on the weekends we go full board on technology. And we love talking with you at 180039 online, 18003966546. You can also E-mail me or instant message me. Screen name is Lawrence on AOL, the Lawrence on AOL or AOL instant messenger or Lawrence@aol.com on iChat or ICQ. And you can send me E-mail Lawrence@aol.com or david@onlinetonight.com. We also have a website www.onlinetonight.com where we keep track of the things we talk about during the show. Log each individual hour with what we talked about and any links to things. We respond to E-mails. We love people sending us E-mails and we also have a Podcast. We would love you to tune into the Podcast. If you go to www.feeds.feedburner.com/pn that*s your feed for the Personal Netcast and of course I have got a Podcast for Net Music Countdown as well and that*s www.feeds.feedburner.com/nmc. In fact I have just had an E-mail from Steve Bujwa who says hello David I am debating getting an iPod versus Sony*s PSP that*s a Play Station Personal, it*s a little hand held device. I don*t listen to music very much. Don*t play games a whole lot and wouldn*t watch the UMP a whole lot either. However between all three functions of the PSP it might justify the cost especially since I read that it will soon have internet access. Well it already does, just wireless it*s all built in. iPod on the other hand has the advantage of having all the gizmos and gadget such as the ability to play it through the car radio absolutely. Can you speak to the advantages and disadvantages of either system and perhaps address the future of the PSP in terms of the add-on devices? Thanks in advance, Steve from Lake Villa, Illinois. Well if you are going to use it for gaming get the PSP. If you are going to use it for music or spoken word get the iPod. PSP will have a lot of ________2:02:43 associated with it but that will mostly be for gaming. That will mostly be for head-to-head gaming, for online internet gaming, massively multiplayer games and so on. The iPod will always be about sound and soon about video. So there*s lots of reasons to look at the iPod and once you do get your iPod then you could subscribe to my Podcasts. So there you go. www.feeds.feedburner.com/pn for the Personal Netcast and www.feeds.feedburner.com for NMC. NMC is family friendly. There is no bad words there. Occasionally in the Personal Netcast it gets a little blue. So be careful about that but other than that there you go. 180039 online is our telephone number 18003966546. Scott you are online tonight with David Lawrence, hello sir.
Scott: Hello thank you very much for taking my call.
David Lawrence: Yeah, how can I help you?
Scott: Well I have a Windows XP machine and I am running among many other programs an old DOS program that was written with Flipper and DBase.
David Lawrence: Oh my.
Scott: Yeah right and I kind of like it and use it for something. But it was designed to print through the old LPT1 port.
David Lawrence: Right.
Scott: And now I, this is new computer of course. Doesn*t have a parallel printer port at all and only have USB port.
David Lawrence: Right.
Scott: If someway I can trick the DOS program into feeding out through the USB port?
David Lawrence: Probably not. There is two ways to skin this cat. Number 1 you can get a parallel to USB converter. It*s kind of expensive but you can get a converter for parallel to USB and get yourself a parallel port installed and do all that thing to get your USB computer. Or you can just install a parallel card. I mean they do exist. You can still get a serial port for crying out loud. They are around. But I have a better idea for you. Why don*t you just print to a file and then jump over to Windows and print to your USB printer from there?
Scott: Okay.
David Lawrence: How*s that?
Scott: I guess I can do that.
David Lawrence: That*s the right way to do it.
Scott: Okay how do I get it to print to the file because it*s an old DOS program?
David Lawrence: I understand. So you can, the print command will always give you the, you can put the driver in there even if you don*t have, I mean if you are working under DOS you just grab an old DOS you know parallel driver.
Scott: Okay.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
