Tony: Yeah and that*s connected to about a 20 foot phone line, that*s connected to the DSL.
David Lawrence: Aha yeah don*t do that. Those are for all the rest of the phones.
Tony: Really?
David Lawrence: The reason they gave you 3 or 4 is so that you can do all of them but the line that goes into your DSL modem.
Tony: Okay now the one, that the filter that they gave me has two connections. One of them is for the Internet connection and then the other one is for the phone and I think it's--
David Lawrence: How is it labeled?
Tony: It says well.
David Lawrence: It should say, here*s what it should say, line or wall and phone.
Tony: Okay.
David Lawrence: And if it does say that then that is a non-modem filter that goes on all the other phones in the house.
Tony: So I should be plugged straight to the wall and not be connected to--
David Lawrence: Well here*s what you should do. You should go a phone line out of the wall and into a UPS because one of the ways you can ruin your modem your DSL modem you can intern ruin your router if it's a close enough connection is with a lightening strike. You do not want to go directly from the wall into your modem. Go from the wall to a UPS which then powers your modem and your router.
Tony: Got it.
David Lawrence: And then go out of the UPS. It will have a through for a phone line.
Tony: Right.
David Lawrence: Go out of the UPS and then into the DSL modem and see if that doesn*t clear things up. I have a feeling you just kept things reversed. You don*t want to be that way. David you are Online Tonight with David Lawrence, hello sir.
David: Yes, good morning sir, or good evening what everyone calls.
David Lawrence: Are you calling from Japan? Is it morning for you?
David: I don*t know. I drive a dedicated track trailer for a department store chain and --
David Lawrence: So you never know, you never know what time it is. Alright how can I help you?
David: I have at home I have a Gateway that I bought in 2000. It*s running Microsoft ME. And when my icons roll up along the Bouncer I have something called Virtual Bouncer loading up behind AOL and whatever else. I do not have DSL work up. They don*t accept it. That*s my old, nor do I work on it. So I use you know AOL. As I mentioned I apologize.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
