Now if you have ever wondered why the @ symbol is used in E-mail addresses and what not. This was a creation of an engineer at Bell Labs and at BBN Bolt, Beranek & Newman back in the early *70s. They were sending E-mail to each other and they had come up with the convention of user name at www.domainname.topleveldomain. So user@foo.com is the format of E-mail addresses and the @ symbol was a decision made by an engineer that just seem to make sense. This is where you are at and he needed a symbol, the Strudel, the Asperand, the @ sign, the @ symbol to separate the user name from the domain name and it stuck and it's assumed it's what we have been using almost 40 years now it's just amazing. It is a separator between a user name and the domain name and an E-mail address. And in IRC it's the prefix symbol that identifies a channel operator. So there you go. The Asterisk is the A. The Asperand, your shift A full of star, Asperand is the @ sign or shift 2. There you go. More than you needed to know about the @ symbol. That is this hour*s Geek Speak and it is brought to you by the amazing Safety Laser Flare, the battery operated device that replaces traditional flares. The rescue laser flare is visible upto 20 miles away at night, 3 miles during the day and I will tell you if you are out in this heat outside on the lake trying to cool down and you get stuck somewhere or you are down in the cool caves wandering around trying to figure out how to find your way out. This is the device to have in your pack. It cost about a 100 bucks and it's worth every penny www.safetylaser.com.

Tony: SBC Yahoo.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
