David Lawrence: Software that is designed for Windows 98 rarely will be upgradeable to what is now considered the second oldest version of the software. You have to go and get either new drivers that are WIN2K compatible for your CD burner or you have to get all new software. And I frankly I recommend that you get easy medias, now easy media creator, it is used to be called easy CD creator, but its easy media creator and who is it buy?
Steve: Yeah.
David Lawrence: That*s a great question. It is used by Roxy. I think it*s sound forge now, because it look for easy media CD creator, alright.
Steve: Yeah.
David Lawrence: There you go.
Alright the Geek Speak phrase for this hour where we take a tech term and turn it into plain English. We actually mentioned this earlier in the show and I had asked one of the callers whether or not they had connected a hard drive to a laptop with a USB Connection or with a FireWire connection. And FireWire is this hour is Geek Speak. It is brought to you by and powered by www.godaddy.com you can register one domain or transfer a 1000 but right now domains are just $3.99 when you buy any other product to www.godaddy.com. They are my choice for domain names, love GoDaddy for anything having to do with building a website. Right now my listeners exclusively can save 10% on their order just enter Save Ten as your promo code, when you go to check out and 10% will come right up the top, no matter what you buy, no matter how much you buy. Make your name with www.godaddy.com that*s www.godaddy.com.
FireWire we had all about, FireWire is also known as i.LINK, or IEEE-1394 sometime you will see 1394 as a connector type and it*s a way of getting data from your computer to a device or from the device to your computer very, very quickly. And it was created in particular so that digital video could be suck down huge files suck down from the camera in Real Time onto a hard drive for editing. Now a lot of computers have FireWire ports built-in. Sony every computer they make has a FireWire Port built-in to it, Macintosh every computer made by them has a FireWire Port built in. Now it competes directly with USB2 in terms of speed USB2 is on a lot of machines, some machines you have to require FireWire Port but it is basically just a type of data port. And FireWire Rocks, it really does, the iPod connects up on Macintosh via FireWire, you can daisy chain 127 FireWire devices together. There are FireWire repeaters that let you increase the power between the machines that can carry power, so some FireWire devices are likely iPod, don*t require an external power supply. It is a great little piece of technology that is just been accepted wildly in the marketplace and if I would buying a computer that is not a chance in hell that I would get a computer without FireWire on it, so there you go. FireWire and there is two flavors by the way FireWire 400 and FireWire 800, 800 is of course twice as fast as 400. So there you go FireWire that is this hour*s Geek Speak and it is brought to you by Rackspace Managed Hosting, let Rackspace take care of installing maintaining and managing your server backups, they are flexible, robust, fully-managed server backup solutions, can help you to prevent unrecoverable data loss with your websites, with your FTP servers, with your streaming servers and whatnot, its all at Rackspace Managed Hosting, call them at 18009612888 or visit them at www.rackspace.com.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
