David Lawrence: Hey there it*s 7 minutes past the hour. Thanks for tuning into the show. I appreciate it very, very much. As Donna said my name is David Lawrence and the name of the show is Online Tonight. We talk about technology. We talk about pop-culture, how to use that technology, how to avoid being used by that technology. And we try to do it all in plain English if we can. We get a lot of E-mails from people that go you know I listen to your show. I love your show. I haven*t got a clue what you are talking about most or some of the time but I feel smarter after having heard it and that*s cool. If we can just get some of it in there by osmosis then we are bounding. Hey we have an open line if you want to jump in right now. If you tried calling in during last hour and the lines were busy I think we dropped a cell call or something. We have an open line if you jump in real fast, 180039 online, 18003966546. Now we talk about everything having to do with technology whether it*s your Windows machine, whether it*s your Macintosh, if you are running XP, if you are running Mac OS X, various flavors. Your cell phone, your PDA, your Palm or a Pocket PC PDA, your mp3 player, we talk about Podcasting on the show, how to Podcast, how to hear Podcasts. We talk about online investing. We talk about how to create things with your digital camera. Anything that has to do with technology that revolves around the internet, around your laptop, your desktop web building, website building, HTML stuff like blogging, you know movable type and blogger and TypePad. We talk about all those things because they are beginning to seep into everything that we do. And in fact Podcasting is just exploded over the last month or two. Going a little bit further for those of you that are really into technology but in terms of the mainstream Podcasting is really quite the darling these days. And of course we have our Podcast. You can check that out at www.onlinetonight.com. Click on the Podcast link on any menu bar, on any page and it will take you right to our Podcast. Now I do want to mention that the Podcast is not FCC friendly. Every so often it*s where a word might slip in there. So just be careful about that. But usually we are talking about technology or politics or pop-culture or whatever and things get a little heated. It*s only ten minutes long and I wanted to talk a little bit about that before we get to the phones. I have got an E-mail quite a bit, on the average of one a day from people who say hey can*t you make your normal nightly show the three hour show Podcast aware? Let me give you a little history on this. It used to be that you could get any hour of any show absolutely free going all the way back to the mid 90s. I mean we were doing real audio back then. We were doing the Personal Netcast back then as well via E-mail or via Real audio. Once mp3 got really popular we started using mp3 as our format. And slowly overtime the amount of bandwidth that was being, not by people grabbing the show for free it reached a point where I was pushing 14 terabytes of data a month worth of the show. Now to put that in perspective that*s like a warehouse filled with frozen foods. Most people need just a refrigerator and my ISP you know they are like hey that*s a lot of data. You know it*s pretty expensive stuff. So what we did was we instituted the low cost that you see when you go to grab any hour of the show 25 cents for the hour, 50 cents for the show, 7 bucks for the month, $60 for the year etc. And that slowed everything down, helped just pay for our bandwidth and like that. But the Podcasting thing, you know to do a Podcast you want it to be seamless. You want stuff to just show up on your computer, show up on your iPod. And the BitPass process is being altered to accommodate that. It hasn*t been finished yet and when they do finish it I promise you I will make the shows Podcast aware so that you can pay that you know $7 monthly fee or the $60 yearly fee and get your subscription to the show. But for right now the ten minute Podcast is absolutely free, the one that we do after the show. And let me give you the URL for that in case for those of you who want to plug there right into your aggregator or into the iTunes. Its feeds.feedburner.com/pn, Personal Netcast, PN. So feeds.feedburner.com/pn and that URL will get you right to our Podcast. You could plug that right into your aggregator, right into iPodder or jPodder or Doppler or iTunes 4.9. And for those of you that know about my other radio show which is the Net Music Countdown we have a Podcast for that as well and that is feeds.feedburner.com/nmc for Net Music Countdown. So we have got a couple of Podcasts going. They are all free, enjoy them. We will do one after tonight*s show as well. 12 past the hour 180039 online, 18003966546. I see we have got a call coming up on the changes that maybe occurring with Daylight Savings Time and if that will affect your computer. Absolutely it will. We will talk about that. It*s great question. Vanessa you are on online tonight with David Lawrence. What are you up to?
