Floyd Landis

Almost everyone in the world has heard of Lance Armstrong and his superhuman efforts as a cyclist, winning the Tour De France a record seven times.

But with Armstrong's departure (again) from the sport, who is there from the United States to pick up the yellow jersey, and cycle for Team USA?

Enter Floyd Landis, who despite a hip injury, made winning the Tour an eighth time look almost easy. Sure it was a down-to-the-wire, will-he-do-it-or-won't-he-do-it performance, but I have a feeling that was just for the cameras. Lance was watching through those cameras, from a French hotel nearby.

I wonder what Greg LeMond, who broke through first as the American that out-cycled the world must be thinking. Proud thoughts, no doubt.

Tour de France 2006 4-Hour DVD : Floyd Landis Hero or Villain?
By:
List Price: $49.95
Amazon Price: $33.40

Product Description
"I ve been on the Tour for 28 years, and I m racking my brain trying to think of something I can compare it to. -Paul Sherwen on Floyd Landis' stage 17

The Most Controversial Tour Ever!
The controversy and aftershocks stemming from one of the most dramatic and exciting Tours in decades continue at a fever pitch. In spite of being found guilty, Landis continues to aggressively deny any wrongdoing. The controversy will continue for years, but what is not debatable if the fact that the 2006 Tour de France was suffused with dramatic twists and turns, stuffed with excitement and surprises, and proved to be a spellbinding action thriller from start to finish!

This was a race of exceptional performances from scores of riders not prominent in pre-race prognostications. The race produced expected showings from the specialists, all of it captured in our historic DVD. Robbie McEwen uses his incredible timing and acceleration to sprint to another green jersey. Michael Rasmussen wins his second consecutive KOM title with a courageous points-packed day in the Alps and Damien Cunego comes closer to fulfilling his vast potential and is named best young rider. Thor Hushovd pulls off the rare feat of victory on the first and last days of the race. It seems that each day produced another great winner, and it s all captured on this spectacular DVD, including Landis's breakaway in stage 17.

The drama of the 2006 Tour never flags from beginning to end in this remarkable DVD... The race itself will undoubtedly go down as a notable chapter in the history of cycling s most legendary event.

Paris-Nice 2006: Nice One Floyd!
By:
List Price: $39.95
Amazon Price: $23.95

Product Description
Very few race scenarios are more appealing than Paris-Nice, whose 2006 edition Pennsylvania-born Floyd Landis clinched in the biggest win of his career. This was a hard-fought battle against both determined European riders and appalling weather conditions. For the second year running, Frances second most prestigious stage race produced an American winner and a rider wholl be going all out for the yellow at the Tour de France come July. An enthralling, eight-day rehearsal for the Tour, Paris-Nice 2006 demonstrates exactly why the former US Postal domestique is more than ready to follow in the footsteps of no less a bigfoot than Lance Armstrong. A stunning, knock-out attack midway through the event is followed by Landiss gutsy defense against all comers, with only a severely debilitated squad to back him up, through some of the most challenging mountainous terrain in France. Fascinating and nerve-racking in equal measures, this Paris-Nice classic is a must-view experience for cycling fans worldwide.

2006 Spring Racing Series: Paris-Roubaix
By:
List Price: $39.95
Amazon Price: $27.95

Product Description
Race after race, this spring Classics cycling has witnessed both revolution and timely renewal - and at Paris-Roubaix 2006, the arrival of cyclings new generation became a reality that will shape the sport for years to come. After Filippo Pozatto in Milan-San Remo and Tom Boonen in the Tour of Flanders, at Roubaix it was the turn of 25-year-old Fabian Cancellara to put the older, more experienced pros to the sword - perhaps permanently. Whilst Boonen showed the limit of his power, Cancellaras ferocious attacks on the legendary pave of the Queen of the Classics marked the end of one era - and the dawning of another. Chaotic, complex and with twists of fortune and fate, this years six-hour battle to enter Roubaixs legendary velodrome ahead of the field is anything but predictable. In Roubaix strength is not enough, as Americas top challenger George Hincapie was to find to his cost. Ambition can only get you so far, as super-favorite Tom Boonen was to discover. And breaking the rules - as three top protagonists attempted to do - always carries a bitterly high price. In the Hell of the North 2006, times change - permanently. Can you afford to miss out on the revolution? Commentary by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.

2006 Spring Racing Series: Liege-Bastogne-Liege & Fleche Wallonne
By:
List Price: $39.95
Amazon Price: $27.95

Product Description
Few riders are foolhardy or ambitious enough to predict they can conquer the Liege-Bastogne-Liege bike race. Even fewer actually manage to achieve that goal. The last, the most venerable and by far the most strategically complex of all the Spring Classics, Liege-Bastogne-Liege has retained its own very special, dangerously seductive character for over a century. Run off on demanding and near-inaccessible terrain through the Ardennes hills of Belgium, a seemingly interminable series of climbs slowly grinds down all but the most persistent, courageous, and fit of the stars on an eight-hour odyssey. Regularly frequented by the Tour stars, packed with the fiercest and most ruthless race action, La Doyenne makes an intriguing transition from the northern cobbled Classics to the stage races of summer. Liege-Bastogne-Liege is a race designed to create legends of cycling, and this dvd is a painstakingly crafted reflection of this utterly captivating event. Commentary by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.

2006 Spring Racing Series: Tour of Flanders
By:
List Price: $39.95
Amazon Price: $24.93

Product Description
Year after year, April after April, the Tour of Flanders looms as a monumental trial of cycling strength, skill, and low cunning which never fails to enthrall its public. This spring Flanders will see riders of the caliber of World Champion Tom Boonen and American Classics star George Hincapie battle it out in one of the most gruelling events the sport has to offer. Flanders contains all the ingredients a great Classic needs which is why spectators by the hundreds of thousands flock to the roadside on a route which simply cannot be matched for tactical fascination as it pounds over venerable cobbled climbs and twists down serpentine pathways -- often through frequent foul weather. Surely its not by chance that Lance Armstrong described Flanders as his favorite race next to the Tour. Thats why the Texan honored it by making Flanders the last major one-day race of his career. This dvd will show you why. And make you want to come back for more! Commentary by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.

CUSTOMER REVIEW:
Fantastic
This movie is outstanding. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen. The movie uses performance enhancing drugs as a means for taking an inside look at all of American culture. Chris Bell has a really fascinating take on the issue.
I love sports and weightlifting, and this movie really leaves you thinking. Sure using PEDS is cheating, but is this any different from a concert musician using beta blockers before a performance, or American fighter pilots taking amphetamines (when no other country uses them)??
Fantastic movie, see this!

if you're watching the Tour de France (and why the heck wouldn't you?) you've surely seen an emotional spot in which everything moves in reverse. the peleton retreats. a time-trial goes backwards. the traditional look-ma-no-hands kiss to the crowd in reverse, a winner steps down from the podium and, if you haven't yet caught on, Floyd Landis' jersey is removed. this is one of the powerful anti-doping, clean-slate advertisements Versus created for this year's Tour. it's the only commercial i'm n • Versus Ad: "A new stage begins"
Have you seen the new Versus ad for the Tour de France? "A new stage begins" is an in-your-face rejection of Jan Ulrich, Michael Rasmussen, Floyd Landis, Alexandre Vinokourov, and other past dopers. A clean Tour? I am not so sure, but I think we can safely say that we are all happy to see the end of the "cyclysm" ads. • Fallout VI
Why they call it dope, Dept. Velo-club.net says Michael Rasmussen jumped in and rode in part of the Danish women's championship today, "in protest" over how he's been treated -- until pulled off by officials. Let's hope this doesn't give Landis any ideas for what his next steps might be. News One reader of Amarillo.com says people shouldn't be so quick to condemn Floyd Landis. This Post Is Just An Excuse To Show You Dogs Getting Hit By Bikes 23 hrs ago | by 100%InjuryRate I know that none of you care about the Tour de France because we no longer have Lance Armstrong dominating those puny Europeans year after year. Heck, we don't even have a 'roided up Floyd Landis to root for. But that said, the Tour is still one of the all time great events in sports, and it deserves a modicum attention. The favorites for this year's race are four guys you've never heard
