f-key

F-key? F-you!

Previously: buzz >>
Next: hot spot >>

f-key is a shortened form for the phrase "function key" - it's those buttons across the top of your keyboard labeled F1, F2 all the way up to F12 or F15. They are all specialty keys whose function changes depending upon what application you're in. Some function keys remain relatively static from app to app (F1 usually brings up Help, etc.), but they change based on what the application does.

Precalculus with Trigonometry: Concepts and Connections
By: Paul A. Foerster
List Price: $74.95
Amazon Price: $25.00

CUSTOMER REVIEW:
It's ok.
The book is okay, not really great or bad. Just that it contains too many practice problems that do not derive from concrete examples because either the examples aren't plentiful enough or there is none of them. I hate those warm-up questions because there is usually no background information first. I especially liked the inclusion of harmonic analysis where I could learn how to construct equations from graphs, and intuitively it's either a sum or a product of two sinusoids. Problem? When I got to the practice problems, the author threw a curveball and I was totally lost from there. This isn't the only example since it happens specifically all over the book. I love how the author did in section 9-1. I am introduced to probability, and he gives one measly picture of pair of rolled dice. Then he points out one simple example. Then I am quickly instructed to do the problems. How about more examples? Maybe 3...or 4...? That's nothing new also. To be honest with you, I have a degree in mathematics, but this book, I consider it to be too challenging for high school students especially when the title of the book deals with "Pre-Calculus." There are better books that is deemed user-friendly although Foerster's looks like one, but when in practice, is not. Avoid this book, and hopefully Foerster improves this book before he throws in a newer edition of the book to satisfy his and his fellow authors' greed. Lastly, make sure that math is fun, not a chore. *winks* *winks*

Testing Google Chrome
After hearing about Google Chrome on PBS today, I decided to give it a go. Ever since Netscape messed up Navigator 4·7?s successor, I had been looking for an alternative. I switched to IE5 around that time, and haven?t really switched back from the Microsoft engines. Maxthon?the browser developed by freedom-loving Chinese on the mainland?has been my browser of choice, because it loads the IE engine without all the extra add-ons, in the same way Firefox loads the Gecko engine. Via the Dark Wraith: LAKELAND, Fla. -- Todd Bentley has a long night ahead of him, resurrecting the dead, healing the blind, and exploding cancerous tumors. Since April 3, the 32-year-old, heavily tattooed, body-pierced, shaved-head Canadian preacher has been leading a continuous "supernatural healing revival" in central Florida. To contain the 10,000-plus crowds flocking from around the globe, Bentley has rented baseball stadiums, arenas and airport hangars at a cost of up to $15,000 a day. People who don?t think life is worth living are more likely to die within the next few years, research from Japan shows. ???????????. The increased death risk was mainly due to cardiovascular disease and external causes ? most commonly, suicide. The research is the largest to date to investigate how ?ikigai?, or ?joy and a sense of well-being from being alive?, affects mortality risk, and only the second to examine death from specific causes, according to Toshimasa Sone and colleagues from • Interested in the Dell Mini
Dell has announced availability of the Inspiron Mini 9 sub-notebook computer, and I have to admit it's caught my eye. Dell didn't invent the sub-notebook form factor, but they did produce the first one that's grabbed my interest. There are two things I like about the Mini. First, like many other sub-notebooks, it offers a Linux option. Second, unlike all the other sub-notebooks, it looks like a machine I could do business on. Out of all the places where a sub-notebook has to make sacrifices, • Public comment on TxDOT?s ?Public Involvement Plan? & ?Strategic Plan?
