When CNN Headline News decides to go full screen, they slide away the information-rich ticker, which shows scrolling headlines, sports scores, weather and other information in the bottom 30% of the screen. They call this "dropping the ticker."
Often, they do this when they have a music star performing in their studios, or a live demo of cooking, technology or anything else requiring a closeup. Anytime a typical format is changed for a special occasion, producers tend to say "Let's drop the ticker and do something different."

by Jim Kouri, CPP Under the Visa Waiver Program, citizens from 27 countries can travel to the United States visa free. Terrorism concerns involving VWP country citizens have led some to suggest eliminating or suspending the program, while the executive branch is considering adding countries to it. What has happened to cable news? When I get home from work I like to watch the news. I can usually get home and watch ABC World News but for whatever reason the other night I was only able to get to the TV after 7pm. I figured I?d just catch some cable news instead. MSNBC: Talking heads (I didn?t stick around to see what it was about). CNN: Lou Dobbs ranting about something (didn?t he used to do business news?). FOX: Talking heads disguised as reporters delivering the news (when the video
• They?re Laughing in Heaven
I had a challenging day of conference calls yesterday. When it was finished, my back hurt from being hunched over the desk for eight hours and my ear buzzed from the headset I wear during these calls. I put my cellphone in a drawer and went out to dinner and to a movie. Late last night, I went to send an email and saw a link on CNN that invited readers to share their Bozo memories. I figured it was giving people a chance to recount embarrasing tales of falling down or putting their foot in t

That's fantastic. But my question is why could we not have done that in Iraq? I've long believed we didn't need to have a big military effort to do this; that we could send people to embed into the culture

Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
