Next: David Lawrence's Personal Netcast - 7/16/2005 >>
David Lawrence: Well either one will work and either one will work just fine. You haven*t mentioned anything about your home network is being out of the ordinary.
Bob: Well what I am going to be doing is I am moving in with my daughter with an old 98 machine my XP machine and a new XP machine which I just bought her today and I like the Retrospect method from what I have heard you say about it. It*s basically all the advantages of something like Ghost or True Image plus the fact and all the advantages of something like Go Back you go True image. You are able to go back by wait and it appears from what I see on the descriptions of the Box Professional version which is an under $100 package that you can get just about all the advantages of every other backup package.
David Lawrence: Okay let me ask you a question. Are you going to backup each individual device to an external hard drive attached to that --?
Bob: One of the peer-to-peer network machines yes.
David Lawrence: Peer-to-peer network machines.
Bob: Right. I intend to plug 3 or 4 machines into Linksys or D-Link.
David Lawrence: That*s not a peer-to-peer network. That*s just simply a local area network. Peer-to-peer network has a very special meaning and it has nothing to do with a local area network in your house.
Bob: Well I suppose a Retrospect goes, it appears that you can use it to backup a peer-to-peer network if it*s a home network.
David Lawrence: No and again it's not a peer-to-peer network. So just you can stop saying peer-to-peer network in your home situation. But my real question is are you going to backup all of the machines on to hard drives connected to 1 of the computers or is each computer going to have it's own backup hard drives?
Bob: Well from what I could learn from the Retrospect site I can either plug the external at a time into the machine and back them up.
David Lawrence: Right hold on one second I am sorry. I can't see to, I got to figure out how to ask the question right here. Take a break be right back.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
