Anne: Lawrence I have a question. My son-in-law upgraded me from 2000 to XP and we have also put in more memory in that but its running slower. He said it*s my Internet connection. I have the same connection I have always had. Is that a common problem or?
David Lawrence: Well let*s ask and first of all my name is David so you can call me David.
Anne: David Lawrence I know okay.
David Lawrence: Yeah it*s okay not a problem. How old is this machine?
Anne: About 4 years.
David Lawrence: Yeah.
Anne: But you know what no it is because he*s rebuilt everything in the last year.
David Lawrence: Right but let*s--
Anne: In fact it*s the first time and then takes things down and put new things in.
David Lawrence: Right. So you may not be able to answer some of these questions that I have for you then since its not--
Anne: Not built by me right?
David Lawrence: Well you wouldn't be building it anyway I don't think, but the question that I have for you is do you know how much RAM is on the machine?
Anne: No.
David Lawrence: Okay. That would be a big clue for me because you need a fairly large amount of RAM to run XP very quickly number one and efficiently number 2 so there are multiple applications running it but not. And then how fast is the processor? Do you know what kind of processor is inside?
Anne: No.
David Lawrence: Okay so those two pieces of information would be really helpful in helping me help you find out.
Anne: Where should that be? So when I go and ask him where should they be about?
David Lawrence: He will know exactly what they are but you should be able to find them as well. And the way to do this is to open up My Computer on your desktop. And you will see the C drive inside and if you just click on the C drive it will, all kinds of information will appear on the left hand, left hand side of that particular window. It will tell you how big that C drive is if there is multiple drives on there it would be helpful to know.
Anne: I have got the C, D and E drive.
David Lawrence: Okay so that gives you the size of the drives and then if you also sort of pull that Window down so you can see that My Computer again. And if you right click on that and if you right click on that and choose Properties it will tell you how much RAM is on the machine as well.
Anne: What is a good amount to have?

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
