David Lawrence: Yeah it is, you bet it is and I appreciate the call. Emery.

Emery: Yes how are you?

David Lawrence: Are you on a cell phone?

Emery: Yes I am.

David Lawrence: Alright well let*s hope we don*t drop you. How can I help you Marine?

Emery: I heard what you said about Filter Software for kids and I really appreciate what you said. I want to share what I did when my daughter was a young teen and she was on AOL and she is almost graduated from college now. But one thing you didn*t mention about Filter Software that often it filters out important sites that your kid might want to go to.

David Lawrence: That*s you know there are so many things I talked about Filters for hours on end on the show and there are so many reasons not to use filters. But I actually told a friend about this today if you have the typical standard list of words that are placed there. By whatever organization whether it be Christian Fundamentalist or well meaning non-religious organization that list of words is going to be suspect. If the word breast is on that list, well breast stops you from going to the American Cancer Societies breast cancer awareness site as well so yes absolutely that*s the case.

Emery: So what I did was when we got our first Internet Account many years ago my daughter wanted to put the computer up in the bedroom and I said no I want to see what you are surfing and you know I don*t want to sit there with you I want to be able to give you a privacy to a certain extent. So what I did was, we set the computer in the house on the main floor where there is fair amount of traffic, flowing numbers off on day. So for throughout, all those years, when she was growing up and even now we keep the computer either in the kitchen or the living room or both places against the wall on a desk with the screen facing at the room. But she would go typing narrowly a word in her own or everybody working on the computer gets kind of like into his own with silence. There are not going to be aware of the traffic and #2 she is aware of that. I might be standing behind her reading what she is typing and that kind of, that affects very strong filter that they do for themselves.

David Lawrence: Sure absolutely and it trains them that a good way to live your life is if other people were watching you.

Emery: Yeah but it is probably not that I like you said that I had to leave her on protection net on the Internet and I told her that she had a down until exactly what you know Kripos do online and also people go and try and trigger passwords and trying to check it.

David Lawrence: Yup.
