Brendan: That I don*t know.
David Lawrence: Okay. Do you know about Shoutcast?
Brendan: Yes, I do.
David Lawrence: Okay so Shoutcast is where you want to go www.shoutcast.com and click on the link that says I want a Shoutcast, you know I want to create a Shoutcast, not just listen to Shoutcast and it will take you through what is a very easy a step-by-step method to setup an Internet radio station on your computer that anybody can listen to. The moment you set it up and you get it going it will show up in the Shoutcast directory. Basically you take Winamp and change it a little bit. You change it from a player to a server in other words Winamp usually plays audio just to you through the speakers of your computer. When you plugin there*s DJ plugin, when you just add this DJ Plugin into the plugins folder for Winamp all of a sudden that Winamp player is now accessible to anybody on the internet that tunes in via Shoutcast to your server. Now to do this you are going to need a Static IP address. Do you have one of those?
Brendan: Yes, I do.
David Lawrence: Okay so that*s all you need. Once you get that going all it is the matter of choosing what you are going to broadcast you can do. You can cut in live with the microphone on your computer. This is exactly what you need to get an Internet radio station up and running. Once you get Winamp installed on your machine, once you have given Shoutcast the information that it requires to be able to have its listeners find your Shoutcast Internet radio station boom you are done. And you can also go to www.live365.com and setup an Internet radio station there. And then you said you didn*t want to Podcast but that*s another option as well. You can take what you do, record it and use it as a Podcast. Now remember there are rights involved. You know you can*t just you know Podcast or broadcast or stream anything unless you have got a license to do it. But that*s in a nutshell all you really need. Now it sounds like you kind of know what you are doing with computers. Is that right?
Brendan: That*s right yes.
David Lawrence: Okay so that*s the path. And it*s easy, you literally could be up and running with a radio station doing this within half an hour.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
