Glorified karaoke
Well, why do I sometimes waste my time criticizing? Is it cuz I have a hair trigger patience? I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my time? Well being frank, somethings are not great in my eyes yet I see people just going ga-ga over some tripe.

Well today I present the biggest abomination of them all, and it's name is American Idol. There are some reasons why I'm not much of a fan of the show and the reasons are as follows.

1-No credible musical acts.
What can I say about a show that criticizes people of being fat, ugly, untalented, and having mental or physical problems, then making fun of them behind their backs. It maybe funny, but these are people in their 40's and are only really interested in a "product" that they can market and sell in magazines, TV, and album covers and many times they are bias because they want to invest in looks that could be sold to the masses.

2- No real artistic choices.
Don't kid yourselves, these kids can't really sing, write a song or play an instrument. Once you sign on to the show the show, label own you for years or until they toss you out like garbage. the singers technically sign away all the write leave everything on the bigwigs hands, from hiring people to write songs, pay royalties when the first rapid produced song and album appears and the record has to be saturated with other people's records and having to have other write songs only because these songs are "hot" and could move the product to the public.

3-People vote, but does it really matter?
Welcome to the cookie cutter show. The producers of the show have an interests who wins because they are dibbing up the cash and want someone that really is eye candy, not really a voice. Notice, how sometimes they say that you sing good but you might want to lose ten pounds or we might turn on you and next week have you kicked out of the show, or you will not sell albums looking like that.
Another one is is you don't change your musical style you will lose, especially on the ones remotely rock sounding. Pop music princess or country really is not my liking of music yet it is what according to them sells.

In conclusion, this is just a popularity contest, the pretty one who can remotely sing wins and takes all. My type of IDOL? NO!!!

American Idol Season 4 - The Showstoppers

Few would risk making guarantees when it comes to a hodgepodge of a disc like Showstoppers, but one thing is for sure: it's bound to become the only CD in your collection you bought knowing full well you would have to hold your nose through certain tracks. That, of course, is the fun of the American Idol franchise: You may love Carrie Underwood's rootin'-tootin' version of Martina McBride's "Independence Day" but loathe Anthony Federov's syrup-soaked rendition of the '80s chestnut "Everytime You Go Away"; you may swoon over Bo Bice's Grass Roots-style vocal on the Gavin DeGraw hit "I Don't Want to Be" but find yourself making the gag-me gesture when Mikalah Gordon steps up to the mike for a Streisand-aping take on "God Bless the Child." Call it a lowbrow musical twist on the famous theatrical formula "You will laugh! You will cry!", but instead of laughing and crying you will love and hate (then again, laughter and tears could enter into the equation after a close listen to Constantine Maroulis's "My Funny Valentine"). The final cut, an ensemble number, puts this amateurs' jumble into perspective: given the right producer, anybody can sing, even those Simon Cowell would sooner see at a cut-rate karaoke bar. --Tammy La Gorce

American Idol Season 2: All Time Classic American Love Songs

List Price: $13.98

Interested in visiting your favorite contestants from the second season of American Idol? Then this is the album for you, but be forewarned that something is lost in the translation from the small screen to the compact disc. Simon Cowell's scathing comments and Paula Abdul's head tossing add to the human drama; without those visual embellishments, the recorded version falls flat. Sure this is a talented bunch, but the material is mundane, with few of the finalists straying from the traditional arrangements. But when they do, it's sometimes worse. Ruben Stoddard's rendition of the Carpenters hit "Superstar" reeks of misplaced sincerity. The best cut on the disc is Kimberly Caldwell's throaty cover of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly With His Song," which gives the song some well-needed grit. And while Julia Demato's voice is no match for Etta James's full-bodied version of "At Last," Demato gives the classic a fetching kittenish spin. --Jaan Uhelszki

Nothin' Like the Summer

CUSTOMER REVIEW:
Solid offering - Something special about it
I enjoyed Carmen on American Idol so long ago, but I was quite suspicions of all the 5-star ratings here. Clearly Carmen Rasmusen fans had invaded and left their mark.

The good news:
- This is a solid offering with a couple gems. "Nothin' Like The Summer" has a "When the Star Go Blue" (Corrs version) like chorus and I just can't get enough of that. "Keep Me Forever Falling" is simple and beautiful.
- No yodeling or modulation that plagued the American Idol performances. Yea!

The bad news:
- Not edgy or inventive if that's what you're looking for.

I listen to a lot of music, and I like to find albums that are good overall. Albums that I can pop in and enjoy through the entire disc or on shuffle without getting any bad song bombs. Albums where I don't feel like I paid for one or two song. They are actually pretty rare and this is one of them.

There is no way I can give this album 5 stars. That's reserved for albums that are true masterpieces. It's a solid 4 stars and far better than most of the Idol albums I've heard.

2 Artists Shine on This Album
Those 2 artists are: Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson, they are just amazing. Latoya London is good, but more than slightly boring. Diana Degarmo is alright, but makes up for it with personality-plus. The rest of the group are DUDS, sorry. Get Fantasia's album, and wait for Jennifer's to come out, which I'm sure will be soon.
