Now ODBC what is ODBC? It is Open Database Connectivity. This is a standard made by Microsoft that allows for people to create database products that work with one another. Now in the case of the Windows platform it is called a DLL, a Dynamic Link Library that interface, versions exists for Unix, for OS 2 for Macintosh etc. and so if you wanted to do say a database driven site like the Fantasy Music League for example and you wanted to create products that played with the database that keeps track of all the artists and the charts and the movements and the players and the games and all that. You could do that via ODBC because that would allow you to create say a mobile version of the game that made calls to the database or a version for different platforms or a version for a PDA. So pretty much all database management systems support ODBC which is great and if you are into the proved world of programming if you are about to create a database driven website for your company there is a very good chance that whatever project you get involved in whatever kinds of software you use will be better for the fact that ODBC exist. You will see it every so often when you go to install things is of this ODBC compliant. Open Database Connectivity that is this hours* Geek Speaks and it is brought to you by our friends at Datalyst they are the people responsible for the new transcripts of Online Tonight and select hours of David Lawrence Show. David Lawrence: It is 23 minutes past the hour and my name is David Lawrence. Alternatives to Mail Blocks there are a couple of them. Just do a Google search on Challenge/Response E-mail, and you will come up with a bunch of them. If you are an Earthlink customer you have that built-in and extensively AOL once they integrate Mail Blocks better into their system we will allow you to use Mail Blocks on AOL mail but for right now your options are with third party so those are the things you need. And I hate doing that because we really helped Mail Blocks make their name but things have changed and you know for those of you who think that because you hear me on America Online*s text support lines it is some how I cant criticize the company when they do something goofy. Well here*s your prima facie evidence to the contrary. AOL has made it impossible for me to continue to use Mail Blocks and has made everybody else who is an AOL customer go away as well which is not going to be good for Mail Blocks and I feel bad for Mike Migliore and the team over there but I cannot continue to recommend it when it doesn*t work right. Alright let*s go to the phones 180039 online 18003966546 we start with Rick. Rick you are Online Tonight with David Lawrence, hello.

Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
