en: Router per se going to the other ones or--

David Lawrence: A router before your machines get to the DSL modem.

Ken: Yes.

David Lawrence: You do have a router.

Ken: Yeah.

David Lawrence: Okay so the only thing that I can think of is going assess you, you have got so much, so little on the machine. The only thing that I can think of is that your machine maybe compromised. It may have a bunch of Adware on it already just simply because you are on the net. And you are not the net with much protection. The router helps I don*t know whatever the firewall as you can*t the remember what the name of it is, I am shocked that any one would use anything other than ZoneAlarm. But that*s what you should use and you may want to check the settings of that personal firewall to see if it*s slowing you down. I mean that*s, that*s all I can think of is to download Ad-aware, Spybot Search and Destroy and to pick up to see if there*s any sort of Adware running on your machine. Clean that up if there is and get a virus guard as well get an anti-virus software as well and clean the machine up that way and if that doesn*t work you might want to reinstall the operating system.

Ken: Okay.

David Lawrence: Alright.

Ken: Now would that make it all, make the computer itself run slow.

David Lawrence: Sure.

Ken: Because that*s happening as even if I go to like a little start button and bring up that.

David Lawrence: That makes me think even more that there something compromised about your machine.

Ken: Really.

David Lawrence: Yeah see the average amount of time that it takes for some for a machine that is completely unprotected, various reports range from less than four minutes to about ten minutes. So that any point in time you had your machine plugged into your DSL router without the DSL modem without the router without any software that protects you, personal firewall whatever. You could have been compromised in that little amount of time.

Ken: Really.
