Cheryl: But all the other applications synchronize. So I know that it’s nothing with the cable thing.
David Lawrence: Well I understand that but I am not clear or sure that when you have an iPAQ that you can, you can order it to sync up the E-mail unless you have a conduit that allows you to do that. So the question is what are you using for, you are just using simple hot sync for your syncing?
Cheryl: Right Hotmail.
David Lawrence: You are using Hotmail. Are you using a Hotmail or you are using Outlook Express?
Cheryl: Well Outlook Express is the application and my E-mail account is with Hotmail.
David Lawrence: Right so I am not sure the Hotmail is compatible with that form of using Outlook Express. Let me do some research we will take a break we will come back and make sure that you are not trying to do something you just simply can’t do. Standby.

Now what are pad characters, pad characters are pretty much exactly what they sound like they provide a little extra invisible padding in fields that require them, often times database designers will create fields that are aligned to the left or aligned to the right. And in monospace, in monospace environments you will want to put some characters to the left, to the right to align everything up. For example if you have a field that’s 12 characters long but only 7 characters are used you will need 5 characters as pad characters and most of the times Excel and any other database application will take care of that stuff for you when you out put to text. So that’s what pad characters are. That is this hour’s geek speak.
