Howard Stern

The saga of the King of All Media continues, and it's real joy to watch. First, Howard Stern becomes the most famous radio personality in the world, on WNBC in New York City, then on K-ROCK, then via network syndication. His ratings are phenomenal, a television show, best selling books and a feature film follow, and his mastery of all of those outlets is nothing short of spectacular. Along comes satellite radio, and Sirius woos Stern away from CBS with an amazing 9 figure deal, only to have CBS follow up with a lawsuit claiming Howard improperly used his final days of airtime on CBS to promote his new gig on Sirius. Really? That's the best CBS can do? I'm wondering how Les Moonves, CBS' president, wasn't told that Howard was booked by CBS employees to appear on the CBS shows 60 Minutes and Late Night with David Letterman, or how he missed those appearances. It's fun to watch that network flail about looking for redemption, when all they had to do was recognize that you have to pay for talent, not let it escape. Once again, Howard will win in a big fashion.

Getting To Howard ROCKS!
I really enjoyed reading this book. Very funny! I've listened to the Stern Show for many years and got a whole new appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes and for the people that interact with Stern. The photos were great too. I laughed my ass off at Dan's determination to give Howard an Emmy Award and the way he crashed Howard's Birthday Party. I didn't expect the book to be so well made. It's got a gold stamping under the bookcover of Howard (very artistic) and another gold stamping with the words "F-Jackie!" on the back. This is the perfect gift for any Stern Fan.

This book is a must read for any journalist doing a story on Stern.
